Hello everyone, Hope you are all having a good weekend.
I have been sick with a cold and sinus "stuff" for the last 4 days. Just wondered if being sick can make BG readings higher than usual? Mine this morning was higher than it normally is.

Hi Pattie, sorry you're sick! Yes, being sick can raise your blood sugar for various reasons like how your body is fighting the virus, medicine you take for the sickness, food you're eating or not eating while you're sick, etc. Here's a website that explains more. Have you seen a doctor? Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks Lanie, Since I posted my BG has come back down to its usual reading. One thing is that while I was feeling bad I was not getting in my daily walking . . . just started that back this morning after 4 days. I am not on any medication for the illness but am to getting better. I have these summer cold/allergy flare ups at least once a year. I was just startled this morning when my BG reading was at least 20-27 points higher than usual. I checked again four hours after breakfast and it was down 34 points. I am wondering if the morning reading was an error or something. I like the website you sent the link for. Thanks again for the info. It is nice to have an online family.
