scared

my little girl was in walmart the other day and said she felt funny and got scared, she said she could hardly see or hear and then she she slowly collasped i was in a complete state of fear she never lost consciousness but she was staring strange we help her up and she could hardly walk, she sat down for a few minutes and she was back to normal, yesterday she started to feel light headness again, but none of the other things, i feel helpless no insurance, this is my child, she means the world to me. please any help what could be wrong, she is eleven and never did this before

Machelle,  It must be very scary to have this happen to your child.  I agree with McGoo that it would be a good idea to find a clinic that will examine your little girl.  Also, if you do not have much income you both may be eligible for medicaid.  While it is not the greatest it is coverage and you will be able to see drs.  I think you need to get to the bottom of what is causing her to feel this way.  If she has a seizure disorder that is starting to develop she should be seen by a neurologist.  She should have an EEG, brain wave test, to see if she might have a seizure disorder.  This is not a painful test.  Basically, she lies on a bed and has electrodes attached on her head at various places and they perform various tests to see what is happening.  My son has epilepsy and has had many EEGs and they are never painful.  And you can probably stay in the room with her. I would definately get her to a family doctor, or neurologist. Getting Medicaid can take quite a while, so I would suggest either trying to find a doctor who will work with you on the bill (discounting it) and who will not order unneeded tests (you know there are those that do!). If you are unable to find someone, you might go straight through the ER. They can't refuse service, and a lot of times they have programs that will help people with financial hardships (if not, negotiate with the hosp billing department, most of the time they'd rather get something than nothing). It could be that she had a seizure, or there could be something else going on, so get her in as soon as you can.
