dislocating shoulder with every seizure

 I have had shoulder surgery because of repeat Non epileptic seizures causing multiple dislocations and ligament tears. I just found out that I retore the Labrum (ligament I just had surgery on) again with my last seizure. The doctor says there is nothing I can do. That surgery won't work for me b/c it dislocates so much, even after the surgery.

I have lost a lot of ROM and strength in my arm (dominate hand too) and he just said, "don't use it for another 2 months." Its already been three months since I hurt it and haven't been able to use it well.

Does anyone else experience such injury with their seizures?? What can I do?

My son has Epilepsy (generalized) and has had one should repaired for repeated dislocations already.

That repair was blown out by his continuing seizures.

Now when he has a seizure, one of both of his shoulders dislocate.

At this point, his orthopedic surgeon won't operate until he is six month seizure free. We're working diligently on that but it sure seems like a viscous circle for him right now. Every time he has a seizure we end up in the emergency room to have his shoulder(s) fixed.

I don't have any advice for you specifically but thought I'd share our situation - at least you know you aren't alone.

I am 22 yrs old and have epilepsy and had initially broken my shoulder. i have had surgery on it 3 times in the last 2 years and its driving me crazy. I cant do anything the same anymore, restricted at work and sports i just had surgery 2 months ago and from a recent seizure i believe it is not right again, aching pains, weakness etc... my seizures are controlled with valproic acid but occasionally forget a pill or two and have one. I want to be able to live my life again and same i just wanted to get it out there i think im going to try and make something i can wear to prevent it in the future
