Bama1986,
I JUST found this site -- have had epilepsy since I was a baby, turn 50 next month, been on meds since age 5 (which worked) until the stress of divorce trial, etc several yrs ago got to me in a way that contributing to auras and possibly seizures while sleeping. I sought help at Mayo in MN - - I was found to be a prime adult candidate for ep. surg=(rt.temporal lobectomy) and did it in May of 2009. I tell you all of that just to let you know I've dealt with this my whole life- - not ALL bleak, but pretty darn scary when you don't know what, when, or if to expect that funny/bad feeling = the aura---which for different people is different - - what you have explained seems to be EXACTLY THAT. An aura is USUALLY a precursor to a seizure---of which there are different types. I too, have had two seizures in my car (20 yrs ago) -- SO SCARY, RIGHT?? Thankfully, I had just enough presence of mind to pull the car over and in the other case stop in the middle of the road--only to wake up to the rescue squad people had called. I hope you have found a really good neurologist -- you need to be seen. I live in DC, but traveling to Mayo in Rochester was the best thing I've ever done! Dr.C.Shin is my neurologist=507-284-4961 dir. line to neurol., and Dr.Marsh was my neurosurgeon. There's Never a good time to do it = daily life, kids, etc. -- BUT I must say I am healthier than I've ever been, and no longer fear like I used to. I knpw it's so scary---hang in there, and I hope you find help if you haven't already! Feel free to use my name if you ever get to Mayo="Allison from Wash., DC" Be well!
