Thanks to everyone who has offered their advise and well wishes to us.
A special thanks to Stephanie for giving me support thru email.
Well,we tried the Topamax for 1 day and ended up in the ER. The doc that we HAD didn't instruct us to wean her off of the Keppra. His words were to stop the Keppra and start Topamax.
The new doc said that was a no-no. He has started her on Depakote sprinkles. She has been on it for 1 week. I would say that the seizures have reduced by 50%. The Depakote was increased today to 125 mgs 3 times a day. I hope she continues to do as well with the increase (from 125 mgs 2 times a day) as she has been doing.
I have found this epilepsy diagnosis to be harder than the diagnosis of Down syndrome. I feel like I keep reading the same info over and over again. There seem to be so many unknowns about the disorder. I have been so worried about the medications hindering her development. All the while she has started walking in the past 2 weeks. She is truly an amazing little girl.
I now know that we will get through this. Hopefully we are on hte right track with the Depakote.
If anyone has any thing to share about depakote good or bad I would like to hear it. Again thanks to you all.
