Kimmy and I had a good day at school. We had to have a meeting to let her come back from homebound. The homebound teacher mentioned off the record that she heard the homebound coordinator say that there was no such thing as partail homebound. They had mentioned letting her come back for half a day and work her way up to full days. So, I was a little worried about
them trying to keep her homebound.
ANYWHO, since I had IHP notes that said they would let her come back for half a day , I faxed them to the doctor and asked him if he thought she was ready for this.He faxed me back an order saying so.
So, in the meeting they said, they needed to asked the doctor what he wanted...I passed them the doctor's order. The director of health services said "We have a doctor's order for a half day. Therefore, we must comply." So, even though it wasn't policy or didn't make their numbers look good. Kimberly is allowed to go a half day. They moved her core classes to the first half and then she does the rest at home. YEAH!
Apparently, The doctor's order would have been something the director of health services could have talked to the doctor and gotten. She could have put her two cents worth in. But since it was already in place, Kimmy got what Kimmy needs no questions asked.
They talked about having a nurse at a nearby school. But the director said the doctor's order is to give diastat within the 5 minute window if needed, so they would have to accomodate her. Which I'm fine with. They have at least 2 other people with seizures, one of which had a bad grad-mal, or several one right after the other thatlasted 16 minutes right before Chrsitmas break. Her doctor has not "ordered" anything, so they don't have to have a nurse around. So, kimmy gets back to school and while she's there, the school has a nurse.
