I know what you mean about feeling lost. I've known people through people that have had seizures (you know, where a friend tells you their brother has them or something), but before this chatroom I felt pretty much alone. The stress of breaking up might very well be a trigger, but it doesn't mean you brought it on yourself, or that you are letting down your work b/c of regular life stress. I broke up with my fiance a few weeks ago. One of my best friends told me he wanted to swap my seizure meds with sugar pills, to prove to me it's all in my head, and that was kind of the last straw. It was a weird breakup, too, and really had me in a whirl. That, combined w/ starting the monthly (I have catamenial seizures, as well as others), made that week really rough, and in six nights, I had grand mals on five of them. I ended up having to leave work early one day, and call in another, and felt horrible! But my boss told me she understood what was going on, and to take care of myself first, and the work would still be there when I got back.
It is incredibly overwhelming, but you are by no means alone. Sometimes just knowing that makes things easier. I hope things start going better for you soon.
