For those of you who have firearms in your home or are hunters. It's time to think about
epilepsy and firearms safety. I know....you're probably sitting there reading this thinking to yourself, "I've been around guns my entire life." "I know how to handle guns safely," Well, I was the same way,....until October 3rd. I was raised around guns and was in the Army for 10 years. I "knew" how to handle guns safely. I live in the country. We have a tremendous stray dog problem. I was bitten by a rabid dog on Good Friday. On Oct. 3rd, I was out back playing frisbee with my dog and ha d a pistol with me incase of a stray. No big deal, I am extremely good with a pistol. The last thing I remember was taking it out of my waist band with my right hand because everytime I threw the frisbee hit it with my elbow and put the gun in my left hand to put it on my left side. The next thing I know.....I'm in the ER with a gun shot wound to my right shoulder. When I seize, my arms draw up across my chest. SO....please becareful and do not hunt or use firearms if you do not have any warning prior to a seizure or are not with someone who can tell that you are about
to have a seizure. I was lucky....Please learn from my mistake
