Dear Della,
Hi there, my name is Danielle, I was diagnosed when I was thirteen as well. What exactly was your child's diagnosis? I have generalized tonic clonic seizures, a.k.a. grand mal. I understand what you are going through. I remember being very scared when I was first diagnosed. I want you to know, I am 21 now, and I am so thankful for my seizures. They can be very hard, but I am a richer, more intelligent and well rounded person because of them. I had a series monday night into tuesday and I spent the night in the hospital, but before that it had been almost a year since my last. I take lamictal, 200 mills 2x a day and I love it, the side effects are limited and my epileptologist told me that it is the best for women because it has the lowest chance of affecting pregnancy later in life. It will change a few things, but for the most part I live a happy, healthy life. I live on my own (with three roommates, but in my own apartment) in San Francisco and I am working and going to school full time. I would be more than happy to answer any questions you might have about my medicine or my situation or anything else. I hope the best for you and your daughter.
Danielle
