Hello,

I just found this site. I am wondering if anyone can answer some questions. I have such extreme pain behind my right eye. I understand this is normal, but how long does it last? I guess I can deal with the clicking in my ear, but how long does it take for that to go away? I guess I'll stop complaining now. I just feel so uncomfortable and I can hardly sleep.

I will be so happy to be seizure free...so far, so good.

Hi Pharmgal, I had a right temporl lobe lobectomy in 2002 and have remanined seizure FREE since. The only eye pain I deal with is pressure behind my right eye when I have a migraine which unfortnately is quite often.

I'm still on lamictal 100mg twice a day which is a very low dose. The neurologist say I'm doing good so why risk going off the lamictal and having a seizure. I don't plan on going off I don't want to ever go back to when I was dealing with complex parital seizures.

I dealt with seizures for over 25 years. So not dealing with that Fear is such a relief. Not to mention being able to drive again it's wonderful. I thank God every day for turning my life around and helping the doctors to have the knowledge to operate on my brain.

I would love to chat sometime. I am going to call the doctor on Monday to find out why I am still in so much pain 3 and a half weeks postop. Let me know about a chat sometime next week. Thanks for your response.

Pharmgal,

Welcome to HealingWell.  I have not had this surgery, but I do have epilepsy.  It looks like you have found a buddy to hook up with and talk to about the post-op results.  It sure sounds like she has a great success story.  Please keep us posted.

Firstly, I want to congratulate you on your successful surgery. Having brain surgery must be a tough decision for anyone and although I have not had it myself, I can imagine how hard it must have been. As for the pain behind your eye... I would not be happy if it was there for more than about a week or 2. Im not a doctor but if it went on for longer than that (or your vision became disturbed) I would see an optician / doctor (Personally I favour the optician since they know what they are looking at!). As for the clicking in your ear... do you have any fluid leaking from your ear?

I don't have any fluid and unfortunately that was another thing the nurse told me patients complain about. I did go to the emergency room a week ago because I had a killer headache and the doctor looked in my eye so I am not frightened. I just want them to tell me it is normal for this to go on so long, otherwise I will go to a specialist.

Thanks for the welcome and the responses. Believe me it was a difficult decision. When the first doctor told me this was what he wanted me to do I told him my family would never go for it! Then I went back to my previous doctor and he agreed I should do it. My husband had to listen at that point and I had no alternative to stop the seizures, medications weren't doing it.

Cindy, sure that is great. I just have a couple of doctor appointments during the day this week and I didn't know what to suggest. Since I am not working or doing anything (lol!) you can pick the day :)

Hi Gail, hope your Monday is going well. I went out and did a little Christmas shopping this morning still have alot more to do. I love shopping but not when I don't know what to buy people.

Hi Gail,
I had Right Templobe surgery done i august this yr. It's been 3 months, and thankfully i havent had seizures since. I had the feeling of water in my ear too. My nero and surgeon told me that it is small drainage from the surgery site, and that it was perfectly normal and nothing to worry about. It will go away. I sometimes get a small ache behind my right eye, but nothing too severe. I lost some perifervial vison in my left eye, but my nero said that that too will get better, but my eye doctor said that it may fully restore altogether.
So hang in there, because everything does get better in time.

Hi Gail, so sorry I missed your call. I've been trying to do some christmas shopping during the day annd then when my little girl is home seems like we are running to ballet, church rehersal or some other acitivity. I do apoligize, I'll be home friday late evening if you want to chat.

No problem, I will see how I am feeling. I have had 2 AWFUL days. My doctor took me off the Klonopin and stupid me didn't question why he didn't taper it. I had an anxiety attack which I thought was a seizure until he explained what was happening. I am feeling like this is such a setback I have been crying.

Hi Gail,

Last month I had strange feelings come over me that I thought were Auras, and I too feared that it would be a seizure.
I got very sick to my stomach, so I had my husband take me to the E.R. to be on the safe side. They did a CT Scan to make sure that everything was going alright. Everything came back good, so I knew that it wasnt what I thought it could be. As far as the sick stomach, I guess it was a bug going around, and I happened to get it. But I scared myself thinking otherwise, so I know how you feel. Anxiety attacks, yes are scary, but you have to be strong and know that the feelings that you are going through are normal and to be expected. I know, easier said than done. You have a good support team here. Keep the faith and all will be fine.

It was the freakiest thing. The doctor did screw me up. I feel much better today, but still not where I was just 4 days ago.
