Non-epileptic seizures and epilepsy

Hey i was 15 when i first started having seizures.

Im now 16. For a year thay thought i was having psuedo seizures because the test came back negative, i had an EEG and MRI and thay were all normal. They told me to go to a counsler. This didnt help.

a few months ago I had a 1 hour long seizure and i was rushed to hospital. The doctors had to put me into an induced coma and had to place a chube down my wind pipe to help me breath. The doctors told me i was having psuedo seizures and epileptic seizures.

The doctors didnt see this because they only saw a non epileptic seizure and because my history with depression as soon as i went to another hospital that didnt treat me for depression they noticed that i was not having psuedo seizures.

Please If you think that you are having epileptic seizures and not psuedo seizures contact a nerologist.

HI. I am a 40 year old married woman with 6 children. about a year ago I started experiencing having seizures and blackouts. When I was hospitalized all the neurological test were performed along with cardiac. They tested my glucose levels and everything come back normal. Thats when the neurologists said that I did not have epilepsy that I was in fact having pseudoseizures. Of course being a nurse I recognized pseudo as being false, and in return became very defensive. I don't look down on people with mental issues but it like most of you that responded, felt and was mislead to think that I was faking it. I have been to a psychiatrist and she told me that if these seizures go untreated you can have death threatening outcomes. You can go into cardiac or respiratory arrest. I was told and my family was told to get me to the ER if lasted over 5 minutes or if there was a injury. Well I can have a cluster of seizures lasting for hours and feel like I was just beaten by a baseball bat. When my family would call 911 or take me into the ER the doctors and nurses treated me very poorly and told my family to ignore the seizures that the more I get attention the longer they would last. Then I started getting poor "bedside manner" not only from the hospitals but from the EMT's. The last time I went with the EMT's, which my family told me because I don't remember, the man told me to just stop and made me walk to the ambulance. We have 3 hospitals here and all of them have put me and most of all my family through hell and embarrassment. We have called and put in a complaint to all the facilities involved. But my family and I feel helpless, I hate putting my loved ones through this and I most definitely am not doing any of this intentionally. So I understand what you all are saying and wish all of you the best. Last but not least I am totally ashamed of once being a part of the medical field and can't believe the treatment people are getting just because the doctors don't have a clue.
