have been taking carbamazepine for a year and phenytoin for 5 . i have found it hard to walk from pains in my feet and have been diagnosed with gout/arthritis.this i find very strange as i don't drink alcohol ,eat seafood or suffer from obesity, and moreover it is not in my family. i'm pretty convinced now it is a direct result of the phenytoin and carbamazepine. This document is dated 2011,so maybe it is a new finding.I guess it was not known am thinking of changing to KEPPRA , i just really don't want to take any more carbamazepine it is beginning to scare me. The doctors here gave me diclofenac , I thought it was great the pain went away almost immediately. Then i read about what it does and about the fda considering giving it a black box label (apparantly meaning its dangerous there are apparently many law suits about it in the u.s. right now).I stopped taking it right away .
I'm taking medicine that is destroying my bones and then i am given more medicine to relieve the pain ,which will in time be the destroyer of my liver and kidneys. Does this strike you as ignorance insanity or or just simply sadistic and inhumane? maybe i'm missing the point and getting too emotional as there have to be side effects to all medication.
Do any doctors take any time to research the medication they are giving ,or do they just trust in the drug reps ?
considering going to buy KEPPRA ,BUT I WANT 2 BE SURE I'M NOT JUST JUMPING FROM THE FRYING PAN INTO THE FIRE.IF YOU CAN REASSURE ME THAT KEPPRA WILL NOT REDUCE MY BONE MINERAL DENSITY I WILL BE HAPPY AND SWITCH JUST EVEN A "GO FOR IT ,BUY THE KEPPRA ITS SAFER NOTE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED
