Keppra - Would like your input

Hi guys! New here and I'm hoping I can get some information on your experience with the drug Keppra. My 7 year old son has now had 37 seizures to date, whole body movements, they only last about 20 seconds, febrile seizures to be exact. Well, I, along with my husband, have decided to put him on an anti-seizure medication and the doctor recommended Keppra. Can anyone or any parent tell me what their experience has been with their child? I'm totally on the fence with putting him on this drug or any drug. The side affects just seem so extreme to me. Please, any input or information would be helpful.

I would say its worth a try. everyone reacts different to different medicines. Personally I had a terrible reaction to keppra, I was only awake for maybe one hour out of 24 and when i was awake i was in a total fog and almost felt like i was still dreaming. i had really bad mood swings also. however i also know lots of people that say it has helped them so much and made their seizures go away and totally saved their lives and they are back to normal. its suppose to be one of the but medications for seizures if you can get past the first week or so of the initial knock out from it, my body was just never able to adjust too it. Seizures arent something to mess around with though, i would follow your dr's advice on it. just dont get discouraged though. ive been going on a little over a year now on medicine after medicine and have failed all of them, still have yet to find one that works for me and starting to run out of medicines. so if the keppra doesnt work just try another one!
