Ms Daisy honey... I'm so sorry, I apologize if I came off so harsh on that last email. I just found out I have Squamous Cell Carcinoma skin cancer, and I'm upset, and frustrated with my husband's situation with the seizures. I was only trying myself to get across the point that we "have lived it", and know best, and I have documented almost "every" day of my husbands life the last five yrs, and he has NEVER had a seizure while taking Valium, and yet has them, not taking it, even with the Phenytek Dilantin. Depakote, he was on 8 yrs, did damage to his liver, and Tegratol he was only a short while did damage to his liver, and all these med's are expensive compared to valium, and when you find something that works..., then why not be able to have it? After all, controlling the seizures IS the goal. The nursing consideration's I have read says a patient can be treated with 40-50 mgs of valium a day if needed, and that is about
what is needed to control his, but the thing is, it DOES. Anyways..., I've dealt with sooo many Dr's, and it's just my belief and my opinion, that Dr's are pressured to give patients med's that are expensive, by the pharmacutical companies, and valium has been around a lot longer than these seizure med's have, and I understand the concerns of addiction, but I still say, if you have to take something, then it might as well be addictive too, as they have worse long term side affects than valium has. Thank you for being understanding, and for replying. I appreciate your input anyways. You do suffer from seizures? What kind, how long and do you know what from? What med's do you take? Michael has severe grand mal seizures, most likely because he was hit by a drunk driver on his motorcycle 16 yrs ago. Thank you again, and again I apologize. Lynn
