This is my first time here, Hello. I want to affirm my familiarity with experiences that I read about in another writer's post, albeit a few years old. The writer told of how he/she had experienced seizures when an employer's health plan filled an Rx with generic phenytoin rather than the brand name Dilantin used prior to that, and it didn't work. Following a brain tumor resection in 1971 I started into severe grand mal nocturnal seizures. Epileptic since age 11 I had never known anything like this was. My neurosurgeon put me on Dilantin & Mysoline (Primidone) and was most firm that I should never use any other type of Dilantin. It was Parke-Davis back then. Control of my seizures has been good except when I've been slipped a generic phenytoin, even if it's supposed to be a time released drug. In a Brain Tumor Survivor support group I used to attend there were many who could not tolerate side effects of Dilantin, but I cannot get by without it.
