Hi there, having to deal with taking regular medications for epilepsy, from 2005 I was diagnosed with frontal lobe epilepsy, as time went on, every now and again the odd break through seizure happens, when it happens after the initial warning, of either a sudden blood rush to my head, or a tingling rush at the back of my head to the front of my fore head, instinct tells me oh oh something is wrong, and usually with in a few hours, it’s like a shutter falls in front of my eyes, I can feel this happening, then the convulsions hit me and I make a snorting growling type noise in my throat (hence the name Growler) and it is a doozy, this lasts all of 30 seconds, when I recover I am shattered and exhausted, I wait until about
an hour before recovered.
Over the years more break through seizures have happened being more frequent and intense, this meant meds review and increases in one or more of the meds I take.
Back in 2016 I had and fought cancer, a nasty one called colorectal cancer, needing both chemo and radiotherapy treatments, I finally finished treatments in January 2017, and got rid of the cancer, but I didn’t know the side effects of the cancer treatments, I now have neuropathy in both legs, and feet, play stenosis and an insufficiency back fracture in my lower spine, where discs L3 and 4 are damaged, just today I have had my Lyrica med increased from 350mg pd to 550mg pd to help with pain in the legs and back, as this situation became bad, plus the benefit of helping with the epilepsy, the slow release morphine tablets was taking was stopped immediately.
For epilepsy I take Keppra or Levatiracitam, Tegretol or Carbamazepine, and Lyrica or Pregabalin, to combat the headaches of the effects of these, in the UK we have Paracetamol, it’s like Tylenol.
With thought planning and a sensible attitude towards pain and epilepsy, with the meds I am taking, I can live well, oh I forgot before Covid hit this earth, I ended up in hospital with bacterial pneumonia, I got over that, plus I have had my flu jab, my 2 Covid jabs and booster jab, so my life is going well, doing good here, regardless of pain I have to push on, I live alone there is only me, I lost my partner in late August 2017, he died of sepsis, he suffered a heart attack in hospital, it happened to much too soon, I have no choice I have to cope, I am 58 years old I am 59 in February, I thank goodness for my crutches to get out now and again, thanks Growler.
