Has anyone had one? What was the outcome?

I just now joined and your message was the first I seen.  I had a right temporal and right frontal lobectomy done at John Hopkins in 1998.  My seizures are much better than before, but I am still having some.  But I was having about 10 or 12 seizures a day, compared to having now about 3 a month.  So I have no complaints.  I am on Tegretol XR and Keppra still.  If you are having alot of seizures, from what I have had done, it is worth it, but you will need to decide for yourself.

Had a right anterior partial temporal lobectomy last November. No seizures since then. I had mesial temporal sclerrosis (scaring on the brain) which could not be controlled by medication. My seizures started when I was 52, so needless to say this has been a difficult couple of years. I would be glad to talk to anyone at length who is contemplating the surgery about the pre testing, surgical procedure, and recovery if they want.

Welcome Missythepug.  We are very glad to have you with us at HealingWell.  It seems we do have a lot of members with questions about the surgery.  Maybe you can answer some of those for them.
