Hypoxic Seizures during an asthma attack

Has anyone ever suffered hypoxic seizures during an asthma attack? My son had consecutive seizures for about 1/2 hour once during an asthma attack. His asthma was really bad one night and he took about 8-12 puffs of his puffer in a short time and then became agitated and started running home. He passed out before he finished the 1 km run home. I found him lying at the side of the road unconscious and unresponsive. He soon stopped breathing and the paramedics had just arrived and started giving him CPR. It was shortly after they got his heart and breathing regulated that the seizures started. The doc called them hypoxic seizuers. It was pretty scary. Once the Paramedics started giving him oxygen the seizures stopped but he was very agitated for about 1/2 hour more and they had to restrain him until he was fully conscious.
Any info on these would be helpful. Does this mean that he will have seizures again. The doc is sure that this will never happen again as long as his asthma stays under control. He didn't even see a neurologist.

My friend passed away about two months ago (he was 19 and very healthy.) He had a seizure (which he had never had before) while hiking with his friends in the mountains. He was crossing a very shallow river and fell in face first. He passed away in the car on the way to the hospital. The autopsy blamed the seizure and cause of death on his asthma which had never even been that bad, he was an amazing athlete.
