DiaStat 10mg (diazapam rectal gel)

Has anyone here used this medication. I have just been prescibed it. It worked when I started seeing purple spots (my aura) but I was wondering, if i'm having a seizure and someone gives it to me, how long does it take to work? The pharmasist says its a great medicine.

Just wondering what your experinces are.

 PS: my sez. are non-EP

I have used it on my son and the first few times he came out of it within 3 minutes and then slept. Most recently, it took about 10 minutes.

I have not use diazepam as a rectal gel but my understanding of meds tells me that it should work quicker than tablets. I think diazepam is a good drug (I have had tablets before) and so faster effect times can only make it better!

I have used Diastat for my son, since his second seizure, he has only had a few that we havent needed to use it, the docs say that it takes at least 5 minutes to work, hope this helps

used it tonight on my son, it started to work within 5 min. made this seizure way less scary
