Hi Carla,
Re: Neuro/psyc exam ~ I had one done in 2004.
It was actually requested by my employer (Government of Canada).
Since I had Epilepsy since 1979, Eventually the side effects from the MEDS ( not the EP) was effecting my learning ability and quick thinking (I used to be an Administrative manager) and eventually there were certain things that I couldn't do as well as before.
My employer, with help from Human Resources, requested that I have a "Neuro/psyc" examination done so they could determine from that what I could/couldn't do (in my case anyway)and they would know if I was just trying to get out of doing certain things.
Original sent to my employer and a copy to my Neuro.
Basically ~ they ask a little history, what meds you are on (to see if your story matched the Neuologist's) and how you react to the meds.
Then a memory test ~ you have to look at a puzzle for 30 seconds and then put all the pieces back together, different shaped and/or colored cards ~ they will tell you a story, have you do something else and then 15 mins. later they'll ask you to recite the story again ~ check you're dexterity by seeing how fast you can move your fingers on a keyboard ~ memorize numbers from the computer screen, first 4 digit, then 5 digit etc. ~ then they ask you what certain words mean ~ then a word association test.
How degrading. I felt like I was in kindergarden.
It takes a couple of hours.
