Hi, Shellis, and welcome to the fibromyalgia forum! We have heard all of that and it is painful. People can be so insensitive. I can't even remember when I could get out of bed pain-free but I haven't let it stop me from enjoying my life. Once I came to the realization that I will always have pain, then I could move forward with my life and work around the pain. Yes, some days are worse than others, but, when I'm having the really bad days, I know that good days are heading my way. That helps me stay positive. A positive attitude does help a lot.
Holly, I used to catch everything that came down the pike, but , when they came out with Zicam, that has helped me greatly. I always have Zicam nasal swabs at home and, when I even think I may be getting sick, I'll start using them and it seems to stop sickness in it's tracks 90% of the time! They will at the least shorten the duration of the illness. My daughter was sick last month. It started out as a sore throat and then progressed to her lungs. She was miserable for a week. Of course, several days later, I started getting the sore throat. I immediately started using the Zicam and, within a day, I was fine again. So, if you haven't tried them, it may be worth it to you.
Shellis and Holly, I started using malic acid/magnesium supplements last December and they have really helped me a lot. I still have pain but not nearly as bad. I have more energy, too. I'll bump up the thread about it so you can read it and think about it.
Lastly, Shellis, I have problems with my hips and it's the fibro that's doing it...not bursitis. I had a light massage a few days ago and, when she was working on my back, I could feel it in my hips! Just like Marlee said, everything is connected!
I'm so glad you joined us and I hope to hear more from you soon!
