I went to a Rheum Dr about 2 weeks ago. Symptoms of feeling like Ive been beaten with a baseball bat. He came up with "Fibro" and Osteoarthritis in my hands. Im 44F. It went away and then about a week later I developed what felt like a UTI but isnt. Urologist did a cystcopy and urine for cancer cells last OCt....said it was possible Internal Cystitis. Anyways, Ive been dealing with the UTI symptoms for 2 weeks almost and the last 2 days I have become so weak! My whole body "ACHES"! Espec my back all over! My legs, little in my arms, my neck in back, my elbows, my knees. Like I said, Like I have been beaten with a bat. Its pain, but more like a bad achey pain. I called my surgeon who has ordered a vaginal ultrasound cause I do have a cyst on my right ovary who my GYN would not even talk about saying ...its just a cyst. No biggy! I pee alot, normal amounts, wake up 2-3 times a night. My sides are sore. I did a CBC and a Metabolic Panel at the hosptial today and should know the results tomorrow. Mainly this feeling of exhaustion for no reason and my whole body aching. Does this sound like Fibro? Does it also cause discomfort with intercourse?

I also have depression/anxiety/PTSD. Drs want to switch me to Cymbalta....?

Hi, Angeliz, and welcome to the fibromyalgia forum!  It sounds like fibro to me, but I'm not a doctor.  I feel like someone has beaten me with a bat at times too. 

 

Check out the Fibro 101 thread.  It's the second thread on the forum.  You will find links to helpful information about fibro...including symptoms.  You just might see yourself there.

Do you have back pain? Does it hurt all over or on the sides. It almost feels like pulled muscles all over my body and my ribs feel like a bat has hit them....

Yes and yes!  My back hurts nearly all of the time.  Right now it is my entire back,  My shoulders and neck always bother me.  I get the pain around the ribcage and also across my chest.  That is called costochondritis and it does hurt.  When I first got that I saw my doctor and he ran various cardiac tests and had me wear a heart monitor to make sure it wasn't my heart.  It wasn't. 

 

I have heard many members say they feel like they were beaten with a baseball bat!  Remember, fibromyalgia affects the muscles, tendons, and ligaments.  That makes for pain.

Did you check out the Fibro 101 thread?  There is a link to symptoms of fibro and  you may see other things that happen to you that you didn't connect with fibro!

I know it can be frightening when this starts happening to you but we can help you and support you.  It hurts but isn't a death sentence.  Things could be a whole lot worse!

I had to go to the Hosptial today to get CBC and Metabolic Panel done. Friday I have the ultrasound. I pray it is all ok, but yet I want some answers. I just cant believe how much my back hurts and how weak and tired I feel. I mean to get up and get a drink is WORK!

Hi, Angelica. When you get your blood test results, ask for a copy of the results, and I suggest that you specifically ask about these results- ANA, Sed Rate, White Blood count and Hemoglobin. Once you get these and other results, you should do some research online about what these specific tests show. This will give you lots of information and in this situation, more knowledge is more power-OUR POWER! Good lick!

It's very possible it may be fibro. The exhaustion and "bruised like" feelings are normal with this. Baseball bat is exactly what I've been feeling for the last couple of months and that's what drove me into my doc today. The advice about the blood results is very good advice. It is something that I've tracked for quite a while myself. And with learning more about what those readings can indicate it can help you help your providers. You will hear many people say that fibro is usually found via the exclusion method. It can sometimes take a while time to be able to come to that conclusion due to having to eliminate a lot of other possibilities. But I would seriously take a look at the list of symptoms that you'll find here in the Fibro 101 topic.

I'm VERY much a newbie here and people here are great. I spent a couple of weeks kinda trolling the boards here to see how people interacted before I actually got off my butt and registered, and I'm very grateful that I did. They helped me by first listening and then giving some advice. Which is the reverse order of how a lot of places are. sad

So...welcome. And despite the reason that we were all originally drawn here, I'm glad that I came and hopefully you will be too.

I think your symptoms are consistent with a UTI. Although it can be fibro too, it just seems coincidental that you have these symptoms at the same time as UTI symptoms. Tell me , are you suffering from burning in the urine at this time??

Angie, it was the feeling like I had been beaten with a baseball bat that finally got me a dx of fibro. That was my first flare. A lot of things can cause a flare. Sometimes it feels like my shoulderblades are being pulled a part in different directions.

Vitamin D deficiency is VERY common in people with fibro and it causes much pain and fatigue. A simple blood test can diagnose it. Also hypthyroidism which has the same symptoms as fibro. I am sure you are feeling miserable. We've all been there, done that and certainly can empathize with you...
