Hi everyone! I'm sitting here at work and I hear a co-worker in the next cube complaining of her knees & ankles hurting. She says "The barometer must be dropping" and goes on to say she can tell when bad weather is approaching by how she feels. It just so happens that Hurricane Ike IS approaching us, the barometer IS dropping and he will arrive in our general area around Friday evening. Coincidence? Real? Imaginary? I've seen other posts here linking weather conditions to feeling worse, especially for those when they must face cold and/or snowy/rainy conditions. I honestly can't ever remember feeling significantly different during weather events. I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority there but I'm curious for just a sampling from others.

I feel a difference.  That's why summers are the worst time of year for me.  We have our rainy season and the humidity does it to me, too.

I always know when clouds are coming. I feel very puffy and ouchy, particularly in the summertime and a thunderstorm is coming. It's miserable!

I can feel bad weather comeing,the fall and spring are horrible here due to the rain. I have a better time in summer as it doesn't rain that often here. Winter is ruff the cold kills me so I hibernate.

I always feel much worse when low pressure systems come through the area. Winter is the absolute worse for me, the cold makes me spasm.

I am very sensitive to weather changes. Rain and humidity give me a headache and body aches, cold weather brings on muscles spasm and pain. I love where I live but the weather is definitly a challenge. We have a lot of humid summer days and wet and cold winter days. Well at least I know when to grab the umbrella.

I'm with you John, I don't notice any change in pain level with a change of the weather. Myself I do like the warm weather and even the hunidity is OK with me. I don't like cool, damp days though but they don't affect my pain. I knew this one lady who would talk about rain coming in because her shoulder bothered her (she didn't have fibro) but the funny thing about it was that she was always wrong. I found that amusing considering all the drama she would put into her statements about the weather. Lisa

Oh yes John,

I always get pain when the barometric pressure changes. It is strange to me. But a lot of people have the very same problem. I often wonder if it has to do with the moon because that has so much to do with the weather.

I can usually tell when it's going to start raining or storming here cause the pain gets worse. And yes, the cold gets me. I've been thinking about moving out to the desert cause the only time that I'm really happy with the weather is during the dead of summer when it's warm/hot. I'm not so nuts about the really humid hot ones, but they're easier for me to deal with.

I am with you on the weather!! I live in Oklahoma, where the weather changes ALL THE TIME!  I can usually tell when a front is moving in or any change in weather is coming.  Everywhere that hurts just magnifies.  I just should have gone into meterology! lol

The weather affects a couple of my illnesses, including fibro.  Sometimes I feel like a human barometer!  lol

I don't keep track of the barometer but there are times when I can feel the pain entering my body before a storm and other times I feel no different. I don't have time to chart the barometric pressure, I just go with it. I do know the cold is torture on my hands cause of the arthritis and it doesn't have to get  very cold for me to feel it. I'm going to be the weird lady that wears gloves in 40 degree weather. turn

Ike is approaching us yes, we'll probably get a evac notices tonight. most of our county is in mandatory evac.
Keep prayers for us as were supposed to be on the dirty side of this storm, and I've had muscle spasms all week.
It's hard living south of Houston sometimes...We'll be riding this storm out (as we no place to go), Hubby has to stay cause of job.

Hi John-
I notice that I get increased pain if it is going to start storming/raining. I always feel better when it is at least 80 degrees or warmer.
And thoughts and prayers are with all of you in Texas with Ike coming in Friday. GamJill

Hi Chartreux! If y'all ARE riding this storm out down there please be careful. Your area is now probably under mandatory evac now and it will get dangerous with all the water/storm surge Ike is pushing. I live up on the far northwest side near Tomball so y'all will feel the worst before us. Please stay safe!

The weather does affect me, last Saturday we had the remnants of Hanna come thru, rain and wind. I hurt so badly, I just wanted to curl up into a ball. The colder weather now in the mornings kill me, I am even stiffer than 'normal' I love that word. lol.

Marlee, I already have the title of Weird ol' lady w/ the gloves. I have already got the winter jacket ready and my gloves are set to go. I have a pr. in my three jackets/coats. My socks ARE on. None of my children even like gloves, I don't leave the house w/o them.
