Jen,
First of all, welcome to the family. Feel free to ask questions, make comments, or just vent once in a while. Sometimes, this is the only place I feel like I can go and find people who really understand me (and that is no easy task!).
I can't say for sure why it hurts when you have your blood drawn or have a needle or catheter placed. There are a lot of nerves that are close to our veins, so maybe you are one of those "lucky" people. Or, maybe you have a really crappy person drawing blood or placing catheters. Just a few ideas.
I also agree that fibro does run in families. In fact, the only reason I got dxd is because I found out my older sister had been dxd with fibro, and her symptoms sounded a lot like the mystery illness I was living with. LOL-actually, her being dxd is just about the only thing that my sister has ever done to help me with anything. But, that's another story...
And, as Marlee said, everyone's pain is different. My sister can still work a full time job and needs to take very little pain meds to function. I am on disability, and I can barely get out of bed most days because I hurt so bad. Lately, as the weather has started to change (yes, the weather does change a little bit in SoCal), I have been absolutely miserable.
Anyway, I hope you'll find this family as special as I have. Jump in (well, climb in very carefully-so it won't hurt) and post away!
