Fall is my favorite season. Even though the days may be warm, it's not the same warmth we feel as in summer. The evening air is getting crisp. I'm in the NW USA and we have true seasons here and I love it. I couple of nights ago I noticed the moon had that harvest gold color starting. Fall, for me, makes the our of doors more beautiful. In that line of thinking...walk outside, if you can, or open the window and look out. Did you notice a beautiful cloud, tree, lake, rabbit, mountain, a bird or flower ? Note a warm breeze or chilly wind on your cheek?

What is fall in your area?

Its late and I am so glad! The true nightowl in me gets to have her say- this is my first autumn in Minnesota and I am so thrilled to be here, experiencing the actual changes in season. I am beginning to see color changes in the trees. I am waiting to smell autumn in the air- altho I am still watching college football, I have yet to 'smell' fall in the air. Waiting!

I live in the Northeast, in Canada. I think, all told, we had four good weeks of summer. That is, Days you could go outside w/o coat or raincoat, sou'western Hat, and boots. And get this, I live in one of the milder provinces. I'm not as keen on fall as many. I do enjoy the fresh smells, actually, it is decaying foilage but let's not quibble, fresh apples, tall cornfields, and even the occasional sunny day when the leaves display their radiant reds, golds and oranges. However, we have to start using heat in September and that pretty well extends into May. Now that can get expensive. Then come October, we usually see our first snowfall and that goes on until March. I lived in Florida for a couple of years in 2003 - 2005, and I have to admit I liked the warmth, but not the humidity.

I live in Southern West Virginia...and we definitely have 4 seasons here too.  Fall is my favorite. The leaves turn bright red, orange , and yellow.  they are gorgeous.  We have a state park here called Grandview ...and itdefinitely has a GRAND view!!  At the overlooks you can see the mountains and the New River winding around them.  It's beautiful any time but really gorgeous after all the leaves change.  You can already "smell" fall in the air here in the mornings.

I live in Maine....about as far North East as you can go in the US. I love fall. we also have 4 distinct seasons. the trees are starting to change color....the nights are finaly nice a cool ( about 35 degrees!) and it is dry and fairly warm during the day (60 degrees?) Fall is my favorite time to hike. the weather is perfect, everything is beautiful outside...and most of the tourist have gone home! not only is the scenery great during fall, but so is the eating! all of the orchards are open for picking...and we have pumpkins, squash and potatoes everywhere. I celebrated by making a big batch of my favorite pumpkin soup yesterday.

I live in Canada(Ontario) and Autumn is my favorite time of year. I enjoy the dusk walks in the cool temps and sky is just so much clearer. I feel a spiritual cleanse in the fall. I like the days spent at the farm picking apples and later pumpkins and because I like to cook the menu get's bigger with stews and soups and sauces etc. I'm thinking about taking the kids to one of our big parks in Toronto this weekend. The leaves haven't changed too much yet but they are starting...and I'm not sure why but this kind of weather always makes me wish I had a dog to walk LOL..

Fall here is when they finally pick the corn so when you go to the country you can actually see something besides corn fields. I'm glad you all love fall but I'm a spring person when everything is coming alive and is fresh and new.

That reminds me I want to get some spring bulbs planted.

Fall is also my favorite season the smell in the air, the colors of the trees and the giggles from the kids on halloween. I live in the inland NW USA. My home is situated at the very bottom of a mountian the begining of the Valley. I enjoy the sounds of the elk bugiling out on the mountian side. Their silly sound wakes me to remember this is fall in the mornings.

Good morning-

Gosh- I wish I liked the fall but it just reminds me of whats to come (WINTER!!) We have four seasons here in Minnesota, but winter lasts the longest. UG! Also fall gives me lots of "maintenance." My lot has SO many trees and there is so much work with continuous raking, garden clean up etc.

I do try to take a day to get to an apple orchard. We have many around the cities here. And I do like Halloween (one of my favorite holidays).

Sera- Fall will be here anyday now. If you get a chance, there is an apple orchard that is called "Emma Krumbees" (just google the site for all the info) and it is my favorite place to go. They have everything there- for all ages. My favorite is their scarecrow contest and it costs a few dollars to get in to see it but it is worth every penny.

It's still warm here in SoCal (possibly the place with the most boring weather in the world rolleyes ).  The nights are cooler, but the days are still typically warm and sunny.  Hopefully, I will be able to be out of here before the creepy Santa Ana winds come in. smhair   I can't wait to get home and see the leaves changing colors.  It will be wonderful to have real seasons, again! :-)

It is beautiful here, the air is getting crisp at night. The warmth of the sun feels good during the day. I sat at the river yesterday and enjoyed the sound of the water and the beautiful colors coming on.

I always have fond memories in fall. I don't know why but that always happens.

I hope that you all can enjoy this wonderful weather. Enjoy everyday, we know what is to follow.

I live in upstate New York about 4hrs from the Canadian border, right on the Lake Ontario shoreline. We get all 4 seasons. Fall & spring are relatively short. Winter seemingly lasts forever. We get all the lovely lake effect snows, white outs, blizards, and winds that will cut right through you. I like fall & spring the best. The temps are more moderate. I do love the smell of the leaves, and the crunch underfoot. As for winter...the undisturbed snow is so beautiful. Especially on a moonlit night. Nothing can top that beauty! I love the lake. Walking along the shore I see all the water birds, adn shore birds. Awesome!! For those who don't know, walking along the shore of Lake Ontario is like going to the ocean. You cannot see across it. It looks so huge! Fall is great for walking.

For me, there is something to love in all four seasons and, yes, we do have four seasons in Florida.  We have some trees where the leaves turn colors...yellow or a deep burgandy...and the color lasts from fall until spring.  I have a crape myrtle whose leaves will turn a yellow/orange and then, if we have some cold weather, the leaves will drop off.  In the spring the new leaves are a greenish burgandy color and then the flowers bloom from spring until winter.

 

Also, now is the time the temperatures are falling and the humidity decreases.  I do look forward to this time because the fibro gets a lot better and stays that way until next July.

smilewinkgrin  I absolutely LOVE fall.  I have a week of vacation scheduled in October.  DH and I will spend the week in the "thumb" of Michigan.  i hope there are some colors.  Michigan seems to be turning early this year.  Last year when we went there in early Oct the leaves hadn't changed yet.  My favorite time of year.  Thank you for bringing it up

I'm with you, I see no beauty in the fact that everything is dying and cold weather is right around the corner.

 

I did get some tulip bulbs to plant when I went out. I have to find a place where I can see them in the spring to give a little hope that winter is over.

I to live In florida just south of Jaxonville. I love this time as Sherrine said the humidity broke for now. The nights are going to drop this week to 59 time for a blanket.   I love it.....

I live in Northwest Alabama and we have all 4 seasons for sure. Someone said they didnt like fall as much because it was a sign of what was to come...well here, spring is a sign of whats to come, SUPER humidity, 100+ temp daily, tons of sweating...its horrible. I love Fall! I love the trees. Yellow, brown, red, and orange. The smell of fall is not here yet, but I can always tell. The temp here is starting to drop some from the super hot summer we had. I live out in the country, my cousin from Ohio came and when we said the country, they didnt know we meant the middle of nowhere! The REAL country! I love the fields. They are very peaceful. We have alot of cotton and corn fields. I love seeing open land. Someone said they lived around a mountain, I have actually never really seen a "real" mountain before!! I think it would be so beautiful though. I live near the TN river, but its nothing major.

I wish I lived somewhere near a moutain, water, and open land. That would be perfect for me! So, peaceful and majestic... =/ But anyways, I love fall also because of college football! Being in the SEC, football is like a religion, not to me, but to MOST people who live here... So, saturday for me means, yes, lying in the recliner watching the games! But, I love it. I also love being outside. I also dont mind the winter time. In the summer I suffer with the heat, but in the winter time I can cuddle in a blanket or a jacket or something. It gives me a chance to explore clothes also! Layers = Uniqueness! hehe

Well, Fall hasnt quite hit us here atmosphere wise, but I will be so glad when it does! =]

Kentucky is beautiful in all seasons, and spring is my very favorite, but I have to admit that fall is the most beautiful. 

 

I live near Mammoth Cave National Park and it's a little early yet, but by the last of Oct. the drive through the park is breathtaking.  We also have a lot of wildlife throughout the park and it makes such a beautiful picture when we're lucky enough to see the deer or wild turkey on the sides of the road with the colorful fall trees as background. 

 

My fall break is coming up next week and we always try to get away to the Smokie Mountains in Tennessee for a few days to enjoy the beauty. 

 

If you haven't ever been to the mountains, you don't know what your missing.  I think it's one of the most beautiful scenes that you can ever imagine seeing.

 

I hope everyone enjoys this fall season and the beauty that it brings us.

Fall in Oklahoma is wonderful!      Being outside this last week is like honey on warm toast. The temperature is in the 80's in the day time and 60's at night. The Fall sun doesn't burn and I can sit with my back to it and feel the warmth soak in and soak out all the pain.      The leaves haven't started to turn just yet but when they do it will be a beautiful show. Oak trees turn brilliant yellow, Shumack is a vibrant red. There is a Maple down the street that rains red leaves and carpets the cars parked under it.      We are still mowing grass. The first freeze will come probably in mid October. I'm not looking forward to cold weather. Someone here mentioned a small electric blanket for watching TV. I'm going to get me one. I could not get warm last winter. The doctor said my Thyroid was ok so I guess it is fibro.      I love this time of year, spring, and summer. I don't enjoy our short winters.      Blessings to all...

I don't THINK so! Let's leave in November and take a "road trip" down to Sherrines. There are so many things to see. I drove down to Florida with my girlfriend and you did not see much "cruising" down the interstate at 65 mph. Along the way we can stop and visit some of our fibro family members and also stop in at a Cracker Barrel. They have quite a few. When do we leave!!!???

Good idea with the tulips. Did you figure out a place to plant them?
