New to the community!

Hi all! I actually found this site while researching MS - I think I may have symptoms of it so I joined to ask questions on that forum.

I thought I'd come in here and introduce myself, as I was diagnosed with FM almost 2 years ago.

I am a 32 year old preacher's wife. I used to be a paralegal, but had to stop working due my FM and also a panic disorder.

I love to sing and have recorded a few songs (they were never marketed so you won't hear them on the radio, ). I enjoy gardening when I'm able. I also like to write bible studies and articles for my blog and Christian messageboards. I teach a ladies class at church. I used to hike when I was able.

I have one child in high school and one in elementary school.

Hi Grace and welcome.  This is a very warm and friendly place and a great source of information on fibromyalgia.

 

It sounds as if you have a wonderfully fulfilling and interesting life.  I look forward to getting to know you on this board.

Oh Gracie! I'm really one of the grumps around here but I'm gonna' tell you to do your best to stay off of that couch! The less we do, the less we are able to do! This is critical or I wouldn't be telling you. With fibro all we want to do is sleep and get comfortable. If you do this you will become bedridden. Walk the dog, dust the furniture, swim at the Y, do anything on a regular basis to keep you limber. I know it hurts, but if you don't keep moving, pretty soon you won't be able to!

It is wonderful to have you aboard. I am so happy that you found this site. It sounds like you are doing all of the right things, so hopefully you can keep the fibro at bay.

For some of us, you do sound busy. I couldn't do nearly as much as you do. But I am so happy that you are capable of doing what you do get done. It sounds like you lead a very productive life. I am happy for that.

I hope that you keep posting, and I am hopeing that you can continue your church functions. That is so important.

Hi Grace and welcome-

I have been off work since last spring when the fibro hit. Slowly getting better and better. I just now am going to try working very parttime.
This body of mine has to keep moving or I feel worse. Me too, I like to walk and I decided I am going to walk at the Mall this winter so I don't lose the mobility I have gained so far.
Summer is my favorite time of year also, and just thinking about the winter makes me cold!
Sherrine, one of our moderators lives in Florida and we keep threatening her we are all going to come and stay for the winter- and that means 5 or 6 months!

Grace, welcome to the fibromyalgia forum!  I see you have met several members but we have many more and they all have great ideas to help live a full and enjoyable life with fibro.

 

When you said, "y'all" in your original post I thought we've got another Southerner on board!  (We have another wife of a pastor on this forum so you two have a lot in common.)  But then you talked about cold.  Yuck!  I agree with you.  I lived in the north most of my life but now live in Florida and things are getting mighty nice down here...y'all! 

 

Be sure to check out the Fibro 101 thread...the second thread on the forum.  There are links to good info about fibromyalgia and it could help you.  Also, Jeannie is absolutely correct in saying you have too keep moving!  You will definitely feel better if you do. 

 

Meanwhile, read and ask questions.  That's what we're here for.  I'm so glad you joined us and I hope to hear more from you soon!  (P.S....check out our MS forum on HealingWell.  There are good people there, too!)
