anyone try Arthrotec

My dr put me on this starting today. Scared to take it due to the side effects, but if it'll help both the spondylitis and the fibro I'm willing to try it.

Because of so many tummy problems I can't take any of that stuff. Celebrex sent to the ER after a few days and Arthrotec took a little longer but ended up in ER with gastritis. But that's just me, you may not have those problems with it. I wasn't on either long enough to even tell if it did any good. I was not put on it for fibro, I was put on it for arthritis.

Hi,

I've tried arthrotec for my spinal & ankle and other joint pains and achiness. Unfortunately, it did nothing for me, but that is not to say it won't help you. It's another one of the NSAIDs (anti-inflammatory) and is similar to ibuprofen. And it can cause GI and other side effects, just like other NSAIDs. Do you usually have those common side effects while taking other NSAIDS? Even if you do, it might be worth a try anyway, as not every one of these meds necessarily gives one the same side effects.

Well I tried it and took myself off it. I got sick and very dizzy, then instead of making me have to go to the bathroom like they said it may it bothered my IBS and constipated me for four days! It gave me back stomach and bowel pains.

Now I'm not sure what to do. I guess it's back to the dr. Next he wants me to "forget" the spondylitis and just work on the fibro which means my next things to try is Topemax and something else like it.

Geez, easy for the doctor to say...just forget your spondylitis??? Maybe a new doctor is in order...

yeah I'm thinking of going back to the pain dr, but he is somewhat conservative, while the rheumy is aggressive (with how they want to treat me.)

He seems to think the spondylitis is in a slight remission and that the fibro is what is causing me the most pain. He said he thinks if the spondylitis was bad the anti-inflamatorys would help more.
