Hi, Nascar, and welcome! Some take Lyrica on here. Either they love it or hate it. You usually have side affects but they sometimes go away in a couple of weeks.
I take ibuprofen and Tylenol for pain and I also take malic acid/magnesium supplements for pain and fatigue. I just started the malic acid last December and it really has helped me. I also take extra calcium with it. People with fibro can be deficient in certain vitamins, too. Her doctor can check to see if she needs extra vitamins. Many, including me, are deficient in vitamin D. Some are deficient in the B vitamins, too.
Check out the Fibro 101 thread...the second thread on the forum. You will see links to great info about fibromyalgia. There is a link about the symptoms, a link to good stretching exercises, a link all about the malic acid/magnesium supplements, among others. I think this will help you a lot.
It's important that your daughter keeps moving. If you sit or lay too much, you will be stiff as a board. Walking and water exercises are really good for fibro. Hot showers and baths feel great along with moist heat given off by rice bags or Bed Buddies. I saw the Bed Buddy sold in Walgreens but I'm sure you can find them elsewhere.
Have your daughter come on the forum. She can learn a lot here to help her live a full and enjoyable life with fibromyalgia. We have several teens on here and I know your daughter will get help. We have wonderful people on this forum that have great ideas to help with nearly anything that fibro throws out at you. And a big plus is that we really do care about each other. So, I hope she will come on and ask what is on her mind about fibromyalgia.
I'm glad you found us and we will help you, as a parent, as much as possible. What affects your child, affects you. I'm glad you found us and I hope to hear more from you soon.
