Good day every one, Here is my situation twice I have gone to the Dr for what i thought was a urinary tract infection I had the belly ache burning and pain when going tinkle. Anyone else have this problem. I feel like an idiot going to Dr. for nothing. My mom told me you can get dip strips for at home but where.this could save alot of money that was $50.Does any one else get this kind of fake urinary infection. I read  that it is a symptom of fibro.

I have a history of UTIs and I used to get them all the time - there have been a few occassions where I was 100% positive I had one - had the symptoms and everything - but tested negative. Since I knew exactly what they felt like I didn't believe that I didn't have one and since the doc I had at the time (who was freaking amazing by the way) knew that I knew what they were like she gave me antibiotics anyway. But if those "fake" symptoms somehow connect to fibro that could make a lot of sense... can't say I know though - just have a similar experience. I've heard of those tests though. I'd try the basic pharmacies first - walgreens and stuff. I'd ask at their pharmacy counter - if they don't sell them they might know where you can get them. Hope you feel better! Those symptoms are horrible. Drink cranberry juice - its the only home remedy thats ever helped me. I guzzle that stuff down and sometimes it makes me feel a lot better.

When I first started having symptoms of fibro, although I didn't know it at the time, I thought I had a horrible UTI for about 6 months! I kept having the symptoms of it, went to the doctor a few times, had the labs done and everything. It finally subsided, but since that time I have had times when I would feel like I had a UTI- had symptoms for a few days, but then it stops. I have found the Uristat (over the counter med) helps with the symptoms of urgency and burning. I ALWAYS keep some on hand!

I, too, have gone in to see my doctor thinking I had a bladder infection.  They tested and I was fine.  Must be fibro!

Wow! There is actually another symprom of Fibro and I don't have it?? I am amazed right now. I have never heard of this. I will have to look in my books I have. I wouldn't be a bit shocked if it wasn't Fibro. I will let you know if I find anything our. Take care all, and have a wonderful weekend. Sheri

Hiya leemad,

 

I too have a history of uti's and kidney infections as well and even lost my right kidney due to infection.  Since I have had fibro though I have had several occasions where I was positive I had the startings of a uti but after going to the doctor nada zip nothing.  I do also have a problem with ongoing bladder pain and my urologist told me that my urethra was hyper sensitive to spasm and pain so she gave me a script for a drug called usept.  All it does is cause a numbing effect to the urinary tract so when I have these symptoms I try that first and if the feelings dont go away then I check it out at the doctors.  For me the usept works great and most of the time my symptoms are gone by the next day.  But even if you do turn out to have a uti the usept is good to have on hand as it makes everything feel way better until the meds can kick in.  If you are having issues with the pain and symptoms of uti over and over but no infections then see if the doc can call you in some of the usept.  As I said earlier if it is a true uti then the symptoms will continue and then you can see the doctor but this sure saves me trips for no reason.

I have never had problems with UTIs but I do get a burning sometimes but it might only be when urinating  one time. I also get a vaginal burning sometimes. I don't know if that is from age and dryness or what. I get burning every where else on my body at times so why not inside too. It never last long enough to be an infection.

I have been having problems with taht to I havebeen feeling like I am blooted and I feel like I have cold in my insides. I have been peeing alot. I have been drinking water like crazy to get it out and it helped. I see Dr on Thursday and I have talked to her about it. I was wondering if it was my Lupus acting up. Good topic. It is like we go threw the same things at the same time.

Every once in a while, I come across a thread, and I go, wow! I am just taken aback. I have never had a UTI in my life. Then just last month, I got burning, adn urgency to go. This was just when I went to see my doctor, so I mentioned it. He did the in office test, but it was negative, although the lab test did show a slight level of bacteria. Also, my symptoms would seem to improve for a few days, then come back. He did prescribe antibiotics, adn it went away. So was it a real UTI, or another weird symptom of FM?

i get that all the time.... doc told me to drink cranberry juice it helps keep urinary tract clean.... if that doesn't help then i should have it looked after


hope that helps.. there are times when i hate drinking cranberry but i know it helps you can also get cranberry capsules

Count me in. I get periods of days/weeks where I feel like I am at the beginning of a UTI, with the slight burning and general uncomfortable sensations in the bladder area. Sometimes I've even thought I must have a pelvic infection. I would go to the doctor and the test would come back negative. After that happened a few times I stopped going in for it. Then came the day when I actually DID have a UTI and ended up in Urgent Care for it because I peed blood. shocked I had been figuring it was just another "phantom" UTI. Now it's hard to decide when to go in and when not to. I've been feeling for the past week or two some of the sensations and since I was at the doc for another reason yesterday I requested a urine test and it came back fine! The doctor has tentatively diagnosed me with IC. Looks like it's just a symptom of fibro though?
