Are any of you afraid that your nerves are just going to stop working from such hyperactivity? Have you heard anything that says this might occur? Although its hard I"m dealing with my fibro without drugs and am just concerned that everything will stop working one day.

I wonder if that's what they might have meant in days gone by with the expression, "nervous breakdown"??

My gut reaction to your question, and that's all it is, not based on any expertise at all, is that no, I don't believe that my nervous system will overload and shut down.

Just my 2 cents worth.

I think that the only way that could happen is if we dwell on it too much. If that is the kind of nervousness that you are talking about. We are so much more sensitive to everything than regular people are. Hyper sensitive I should say. Noises, lights and smells bother us more.

What I'm talking about is that what I understand from my docs is that my nerves are "talking" too much. Meaning that my pain receptors are consistently on high. So I am afraid that one day I will not be able to feel anything. I think that would be worse than the constant pain. I work in computers and when a hard drive/ processor/ etc runs always on high it burns out /dies. So to me its a logical if anecdotal jump. But maybe its just a crazy fear and I feel better that no one else has this worry and no one has apparently experienced it. Thank you.
