Gosh, you'd thnk I'd be use to it by now, or do we ever really get use to these flares? Seems to me I fight them and I do know I have to give in to them. Maybe it's the stubborness in me? I just don't know. Weatherman calls for up to 6 inches of snow to fall today into tonight and I've been feeling it since last night. Yes, the best thing to do is take a nice warm bath and rest, but I have three dogs that insist on being cared for - and exercised!, and a job, medical transcription, which means sitting at my computer typing away. Not sure if I'm looking for any answers, guess I just needed to let that out. Thanks for listening...

Miriam, the weather gets to me too. We are having below zero temps already here- with windchills at 20-30 below. This climate is not fit for humans and especially ones with fibro!

I hear you guys! I'm in Michigan and tonight the forecaster said we were having a "Winter Advisory Warning"...whatever the crap that means. All I know is it's cold and windy and wretched here!!! I think we're supposed to get a couple of inches too...I try not to listen to the weather so much anymore because it tends to bum me out.

Just wondering...what state are y'all from?

Sorry guys.... This weather is all coming from out west.... My neck of the woods.  I'm in southern Alberta.  It all starts here and heads east.   We got a massive dumping of snow last Friday. And the temps were, like you said, not fit for humans!  Hehe.....  Hunker down and hybernate!

Am in Michigan here, Oakland county, and yep, we are expecting 2-5 inches in our area.
Figured something was up when I could hardly stand this moring. Went grocery shopping with a wind chill of 8 this morning. Was going to start my Christmas baking, but right about now, cookies from a bakery are sounding better. Not up to standing at the oven for 3 hours.

Feel better!!!!!

It's been about 20 below here. I'm having a flare so bad that I can barely stand up straight most of the time. Let's all move to some gloriously warm place! Or maybe just migrate like birds to avoid flares!

Hey Tootiebug...I"m in Oakland county too!!! I'm in Farmington Hills...you?

Oh man, I was hoping to do some grocery shopping after work today but if it's that cold already...I don't know. I'm stuck inside at work so I won't know till 5 when I leave how cold it is and whether or not I daree to venture out! It might be better for me to go today though instead of tomorrow!

I'm in the northern suburbs of Chicago and yes, we've been having very cold temps here these past two days. Sunday, it was 50 and raining all day. Then, the temps dropped 30 degrees and we had ice all over the place. I had my mom here for the day, who has Alzheimer's...what a day! between feeling like crap and trying to deal with all her demons, it was challenging, to say the least! Now the cold, cold temps and snow. I am blessed, however, that I can work at home. Just have to keep my dogs happy and take them out to play...could be alot worse, I suppose.

Im in a lil area right off Hood Canal Wa and we are supposed to get 6 inches here tonight and are temps have dropped from the 40's to highs in the 20's and lows in the single digits in some places with freezing wind oh and all we are using for heat is a couple portable space heaters!!! downstairs the baseboard heat goes out the windows and no heat at all upstairs. Omg my muscles are gripped so tight right now but going to my daughters tonight and staying till friday. Nice and toasty at her place and I cant wait.

Hey tootie, oh that's so weird! I think it's cool to find someone on here who lives so close. Wow that really makes me feel like I'm not alone with my pain and all of that fun stuff. I just moved to FH about 5 years ago. Before that, I was mostly in Redford or Westland. I did used to always go to the bar in Novi. Before the FM hit, I always did karaoke at Library Pub out there.

Oh yeah the Library Pub. Have a son who goes there. It is nice to meet someone who is so close by. I dont feel as alone. I volunteer at Botsford Hospital and have two sons. One is a minister and the other just graduated from Nursing school.
He landed a job at Detroit Receiving in ER. Nice to meet you!!!

Oh how funny! I probably know your son...I used to know pretty much everyone up there! My best friend works at Botsford too! I'm not sure exactly what she does there. Something office-y, I think. Her name is Denise Wolf.

Congrats on your son getting such an awesome job! With our economy, that is wonderful!

It is great when you meet someone close to you on here. Margie doesn't live too far from me, aka Springfling.

 

I just creeped home from my last visit to Walmart. Would you believe they didn't have any Rice Krispies in the store. DH can pick some up for me.

 

Every part of my body is sore and hurts Miriam. I'm south of you but don't know how much of this stuff we are suppose to get. It's only 16 out but it is like a combination of sleet and snow coming down. My car was cold, I was in the store so long. I don't have an ice scraper in the car but I wouldn't have gotten out and scraped it anyway with my hands so I had to set there til the ice melted off the front and back window. Took me a few minutes to find the button for rear defroster, I haven't used it for 10 mos. I get home and push the garage door opener and the door only opened a few feet so I opened and closed it til it went up all the way, it was frozen. I have lost all the keys to the house so the garage door is the only way I have of getting in the house.

 

Tomorrow I'm making treats and doing laundry and praying that this all stops before Fri so all the kids can get here and we don't have to postpone Christmas til Jan 3rd cause I will cry all weekend if we can't get this done this weekend.

 

I'm sure Sherrine will love this thread so she can brag about her nice weather in Florida. devil

 

Stay in and keep warm girls. It does look like Christmas out there. smilewinkgrin

i am also in michigan and our snow just started about an hour ago-we're due for 2-4, but i won't believe it until i see it. (we live in the black hole of the state, meaning EVERYBODY else gets snow except for us CONSTANTLY..)

it's bitter cold here-about 15 degrees i think? and everything on me hurts. even my hair hurts. i wanted to curl up in bed and sleep all day, but there's too much to do:(

hope everybody makes it through this cold snap without too much pain!

i'm in hudson, which is about halfway between jackson and adrian. (about an hour and a half south of your neck of the woods, i think) seriously, time and time again jackson will get dumped on..adrian will get dumped on..hillsdale will get dumped on..the ohio towns just over the border will get dumped on and we get nothing. same thing happens in the summer with the rain-it's like we are a precipitation free zone! it's crazy!

normally i don't mind it one bit, but i do like the snow this time of year, flares or no flares. it just doesn't feel like christmas when you look outside and see nothing but grey skies and ugly brown grass :( also, what in the heck is the point of having 20 degree weather day after day after day without snow? if i've got to deal with the bitter cold, mother nature needs to at least give me something pretty to look at! :)

it is still snowing here, though, so maybe the weatherman's right for once.

I'm from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and it is so cold.  The temp is -19 degrees with wind chills 30 to 40 below.  A lot of the schools have closed due to the temps.  My girls were not that lucky though so I dressed them as warm as I good (not easy with a 15 year old) and sent them to school.  They have it good though, I drop them off at school and their dad picks them up.  I just feel sorry for the poor kids at the bus stops.  My middle daughter had her Christmas concert tonight and I really didn't want to go but I could never dissapoint her.  It was a nice concert but I'm paying for it right now, I am so cold and sore.  I am sitting all bundled up and just can't seem to get warm.  The hubby said today that we will move to a warmer place when we retire (if I make it that long), I'm thinking Hawaii  smilewinkgrin .

Here at the farm in Missouri, we are really cold too. Thank God we don't have tons of livestock to feed this year, because with the costo flaring up, I couldn't even sling a feedsack up on my shoulders. I don't know if I will ever be able to again. Not that I'm complaining :) It's one of the reasons I hurt all over anyway :)

I wish all of you the best! Hopefully the flares are few and far between this winter :)

I just went outside to check the temperature & it is 3 below.  Brrrr I am freezing because I flipped the light switch so I could so I could see the thermometer & of course the lightbulb was burnt out.  Darn, I should have changed that during warmer weather.  shakehead   So, I had to go out there to see.  Well, I can't see in the dark so I have to get up there & take the stupid thing down to read it.  It is still to dark so & am waving it this way & that way trying to get it into some kinda light, moon or streetlight.  Nothing!  I am so cold by this time, trying to read it & I have a lightbulb (no pun intended) moment.  Take the stupid thing inside.  AHA!!!!!  I may be slow but I usually can perservere.  Hugs & warmth to all, Denise

How cool that you guys are so close! That really makes this all feel so much more personal rather then just anonymous people on the internet. That's nice :-)
I'm with you guys...Florida, ,Hawaii...anyplace that doesn't get this cold would be a great place to go to!
I woke up this morning and looked out the window and saw all the dreaded snow. I was fearing having to do the fun job of scraping my car off (we live in an apt complex with no carports) as it ALWAYS tires me out quickly and my muscles particularly in my arms and back start burning and throbbing. But when I came outside this morning our landlord was out brooming off everyone's cars and he was in the process of doing mine! I was SO relieved! It's the little things, you know? :-)

Denise, have you heard of Weather Bug on the internet??? You download it and you always know the temp and weather in your area. It even chirps when bad weather is coming.
