I don't know if anyone has noticed that I haven't been around a lot this past week, but there has been a lot going on for me and my family. Besides the fact that I have had the flu for almost a week and my dad had surgery to remove a kidney stone, my beloved Grandma Toots fell and cracked some vertebrae.
First of all, I just don't understand our healthcare system. They actually wanted to send my grandmother home from the ER! Luckily, my uncle, her power of attorney, is an actual attorney. So, we managed to keep her hospitalized for a whopping 3 whole days before they discharged her back to her assisted living home. Anyway, she is still in a tremendous amount of pain, and all they have her on is a low dose of Vicodin. I am not saying that is a bad thing, but obviously if she is still so painful that she is crying, it's not enough pain meds!
Anyway, there really isn't much we can do other than give her pain meds...remember, she is 97 years old. But if you could add her on to your prayer list (and even if you aren't the praying kind of person, if you would just send warm thoughts), I'd really appreciate it.
