Hi Jori, i was prescribed ultram er for my pain, be honest with you, i didn't feel anything. i was hoping to feel buzz or something. i discontinued, now taking oxycontin 20 mg and motrin 800, works great. you have to try few meds to see which one works for you, only you and your doctor can figure this out.. if you dont' mind asking, where is your pain?

Hi Jori,
as I recall it took a couple days for it to truly kick in for me.

my pain is everywhere, but mostly in my shoulders, down my arm to my fingers, and in the muscles sitting right next to my spine. Which as you can imagine is like 10 times more painful than anywhere else.

Hi JoriGirl,
I use to take it as well but it worked o.k. at the beginning but you do usually have to take some of these meds a few times to feel any decsent effects. I switched to Ultracet and I like it a bit better. It doesn't amp me up as much as the ultram did. Well at least give the ultram a try. I also use the fentynl patch when I really need a bit more. I have to work full time so being highly medicated is not an option for me. I have to endure a little more pain so I can stay awake and alert
. I guess that's the catch 22 with a chronic illness :-(
Keep up the communication with the doc, let him know how much they suck if they don't work for ya.
Take Care,
Soft Hugs,

Jori, this is a good drug for me because it goes to work on the musculo-skeletal system, which is where much of my pain either originates or is referred to. It doesn't have any sedating effects on me at all. It does help me a great deal because it attacks my pain as opposed to making me feel buzzed. It is not a med that you take and 10 minutes later you are dancing the lambada, it takes time to have enough in your system to provide overall and sustainable relief. Continue to take it properly for a few days and see if you don't begin to feel better. Some on this forum have reported that it either made them sleepy or didn't give any pain relief. You must give it a chance to work. I hope you are feeling much better soon.
