Boils

Hey my names Samantha and im 18. about 5 month ago I started to get boils on my buttocks.. I had about 3 on one side and they were about the size of my palm. After they started to heal I got another one on the other side of my buttocks. When it healed, about a month after I got another boil under my right arm and one on my side and another one on the other side of my stomach. I went to the docters and he wasnt farmilier with it but he took my blood work and I called and they told me tht they didnt find anything. Now about a week ago I started getting another one in my left armpit.. and now its increased to three. It's very painful and discomfortable when I go to school. I wanted to know if there was any one who could help me with some advice. I've been trying to put hot compresses on it but I just dont wanna keep getting them. I don't have a fever and I don't feel sick.

Welcome to the fibromyalgia forum. I am so glad that you joined us. I think that you will find that this is a comforting place to come and visit. I hope that you stay.

I understand that boils can be from a lack of iron. But this is something that I heard years ago and I don't know if that is right. You might want to find some information on that. Have you tried googling it? I can't believe that your doctor didn't have an answer for you. You might want to ask another one.

And welcome! Glad you have found us and we'll do what we can to help you get this under control. We aren't doctors or anything like that but we can tell you what our experiences have been or things we have found out about this problem. I did a bit of Googling and found a few things. One thing I learned from reading is that you need to have a doctor in charge of helping with the problem. If your doctor doesn't know what it is then ask if you can have a referral to a dermatologist/skin doctor. You don't want this to leave permanent scars nor keep spreading.

Looked up the disease that Mercy was talking about and I found some info at the Mayo Clinic site. There's a link to there site and below that a description of the disease cause I had no idea what it was...and likely others don't know either. Mayo one is first:

Hidradenitis suppurativa (hi-drad-uh-NI-tis sup-u-ra-TI-va) is a chronic skin inflammation marked by the presence of blackheads and one or more red, tender bumps (lesions). The lesions often enlarge, break open and drain pus. Scarring may result after several recurrences.

Considered a severe form of acne (acne inversa), hidradenitis suppurativa occurs deep in the skin around oil (sebaceous) glands and hair follicles. The parts of the body affected — the groin and armpits, for example — are also the main locations of apocrine sweat glands.

Hidradenitis suppurativa tends to start after puberty, persist for years and worsen over time. Early diagnosis and treatment of hidradenitis suppurativa can help manage the symptoms and prevent new lesions from developing.
