Yesterday. Hello all I have had aches and pains since completing chemo for breast cancer. I was sure that my cancer had returned however all tests were negative. My oncologist (who I trust in regards to cancer) hinted that it may be 'all in my head' or just the aging process. I knew that it was much worse than just aging and I did wonder if it was in fact all in my head. However after two years of wondering my regular doctor officially diagnosed me yesterday. I have moved and have a new doctor that is obviously more versed in this condition. Once my Lyme's disease cleared up (yup I had that as well) and 11 of the fibro points were still very painful she officially gave me the diagnosis. So I will be scouring this board for info. I am glad you are all here.

Hi BC and welcome to the family. I'm so glad you are cancer free. Fibro should be a walk in the park after what you have gone through. Read the fibro 101 thread, second on first page, it contains lots of great info. Read all you can and ask questions and we are here to help you. It sounds like the move was a lucky break for you.

welcome to our family! definitely listen to marlee and read up in the fibro 101 thread. there is so much wonderful and useful information there! and please feel free to ask questions. there are many kind and knowledgeable people here who will help you in any way they can, and if they can't help, they will at least commiserate!

also, my aunt went through the same thing you did. she had throat cancer (which, thank goodness, has been in remission for 7 years) and after chemo and radiation, she began feeling the aches and pains of fibro. she had been a nurse practitioner for years and knew something was wrong, but had a heck of a time finding a doctor to listen. she was finally diagnosed with fibro 4 years ago. her story and yours makes me wonder if there isn't something in cancer treatment that can trigger fibro in some people?

i am so glad you are cancer free now. i wish you weren't having to deal with fibro now on top of what you've already been through, but i am happy you've found us!!

Welcome BC,

So glad you are cancer free! Looks like you have had alot going on. You'll find this is a great place for information, support, & making new friends.

Having a doc that is familiar with Fibro always makes such a big difference. Glad you found yours! You've already been given great advice. I learned alot on the Fibro 101 thread and I use the stretching exercises all the time. Looking forward to learning more about you.

Hi BC and welcome to our family!!

You are an inspiration to us all by being a SURVIVOR'...YEAH!!! But that was quite a blow to your body/system and unfortunately you came out with fibro as a 'bonus'. I'm sorry you have to endure this too but truly glad you are with us. I know you'll find comfort and friendship here...it's our house specialty!

Hi BC,

I just wanted to welcome you to the forum. You sure have had a lot on your plate. I am glad that it is only fibro and not something more serious. Not that fibro isn't, but it is a lot easier to deal with than cancer.

As others have said, read the fibro101 thread, there is a wealth of information on that thread. Also feel free to respond to posts or ask qyestions as they arise. We are all here for you.

Hi BC and welcome.  I think you'll find that this forum is a great place to hang out with fibro friends.

 

Although fibro can be a pain to deal with (literally), I'm so glad you're cancer free.  :-)

Hi, BC, and welcome!  I'm sorry to have to meet you this way but you have come to a good place!  Our members are terrific and will have great suggestions to help you live a full and enjoyable life with fibro.  As an added bonus, we really do care about one another!

 

I'm glad you have beaten Lyme and cancer.  That's amazing but, as Chutz said, that makes you a survivor!  You should be able to handle fibro and continue to do the things you love.  We can give some help there.

 

Anyway, I'm so glad you found us and am looking forward to hearing more from you soon.

Thanks everyone for the warmest of welcomes. I have already learned lots and have spent the majority of the day on this site! As with my breast cancer, after reading everyone's stories I can count myself very lucky that my symptoms are not near as severe as many others.

Hey BC! I am soo glad to hear you are cancer-free, that all must have been horrifying! I couldn't even imagine. I'm sorry that you have Fibromyalgia now too but everyone is wonderful here and we will make you feel right at home!

Hey BC!

How wonderful that you survived the cancer!! Hoooray for YOU!!!  I'm sure that must have been terrifying!!

Sorry to hear you're going to have to deal with fibro, though.

You and I have a couple of things in common, Lyme Disease and we were both diagnosed on the same day!!  We'll go down this road together, dear friend.
