Flushing or Hot Flashes, virus fever?

 Thought I'd use red, thought it fitting for the subject, HA! smilewinkgrin

 

12 years ago I started experiencing night sweats, yuck!  I went throught a handful of different ob/gyn docs and they all didn't know what to say except for my gyno I saw for about the last 3 yrs. (She is no longer working due to Lupus, I was told...bummer.)  She actually thought it was fesible (sp?) for me to be experiencing perimenopausal symptoms.  B/4 I started seeing her I took it upon myself to stop BC pills.  Because all the male docs I saw b/4 her would say that I was to young and if I was having such symptoms that BC pills help with the side effects of perimenopause. nono Oh no you didn't.... 

 

I have experienced hot flashes as well, but in the past few months the flashes I'm not sure may be more like flushes.  I get real hot in the face and perspirer.  Like last night my daughter asked me if I just put lotion on my face and I said "no, I am perspiring", then she said oh rolleyes .  BTW I had taken a shower earlier.  All this "hotness" has been happening pretty regular throughout the day but at night I haven't been sweating in bed at all.  Maybe get too warm and push blankets off but not like a few yrs back when I would soak the sheets with sweat.

 

I went to an Infectious Disease doc 3 months ago and he thinks that I've had a fever this whole time. smhair I don't know.  I just know that its not as bad then as it is now, except for the daytime "hotness".  This doc took vials upon vials of blood for testing for this and that virus and I still don't know what the results are...guess I'll find out in 2 wks.

 

Well I hope that's enough to get the jist I've got to go...

Well, Lori, I am only 21 and I honestly do have problems with night sweats/hot flashes... honest to god! My mom thought I was making it up... but I had asked my rheumy about it, because it all started happening around the time I developed Fibro.. and she assured me there was nothing to worry about confused  SO I don't know, but it is rather annoying when everyone in the room is normal-feeling and I'm sitting there freezing cry or HOT HOT HOT mad .. and then I even start to sweat on my face when I'm hot and even feel sweaty on my back when I am cold.. it's an awful feeling!

Anyone have any opinions on this? Is it really the Fibro like my rheumy has thought?

yeah, I can get some COLD Feet or Hands one minute then I can HEAT up like no buddies business. Uff Da!

My ID doc thinks it could possibly be a fever for an underlying virus I have. Well like I said b/4 I don't see my doc for another 2weeks b/4 I can go over my results of the blood tests he took. WOW, a fever for 12 yrs.....I tend to think it is partly hormonal. My "hormonal test" with my gyn said my "numbers" are a tad to low for menopause and real high for perimenopause.

Well Jenna I'm glad I'm not the only one that has such extremes. I can never figure out the right outfit for the day. :-(

Hi Lori...I have been sweating then ice cold for almost a week.  This is a new one for me.  At first I thought it was a withdrawl symptom from valium as I didn't take any for three or four days.  That's not it!  I do not have a fever, it's 97.6.  And I went through menapause at 23 after a complete hysterectomy.  I never saw any posts about people with fibro sweating like this...most are shivering which I do also!

Just hope it's another fibro annoyance!

Have you had your thyroid tested? If your thyroid is low, there are symptoms similar to what you've described.

Thanx Donna, I definitley don't feel so alone now. For YEARS I have been thinking this has been all about my hormones....oooo the chaps my hide. So many visits to the gyno.

As for my thyroid MT, yes I have had that sucker tested with just about every doctor I have seen. They all say my thyroid results are normal. Go figure, huh?

Hmm, yes, I as well have gotten my thyroid tested, they thought for a little bit that I could've had problems with it due to certain symptoms I was experiencing... BUT long behold, not only did they say the results were normal but they told me that my thyroid seemed "PERFECT" was the word they used!!!! At least one thing is perfect; everyone knows the rest of my body isn't tongue tongue

I have been having hot flashes and night sweats since my hysterectomy. Not sure if it's the fibro or the hysterectomy.

Wow! I have been having night sweats since the age of 33, my gyno keeps telling me its too early for menopause. Five years later, I still have the night sweats and have added hot flashes. The last few days I have gone from being so cold to sweating in seconds during the day. At night I wake up because I am so sweaty and feel so gross....

So this is another symptom of fibro?????

2boyzmom....I am startin' to think it must be another fibro symptom. I still get my period. I stopped for 7 months at one time though, I was so excited at the time I thought it was gonna be all done with, no such luck. :-( If all this hot flashin' is perimenopausal well then put me in the record book for hot flashin'. :-) I feel like I been like this FOREVER. I do have to say the extreme feeling of being real cold then real hot has been more frequent than just the hot flashes.

Anyone else have a tempature gauge prob.?? :-)

Jenna, the same thing happens to me!! im glad im not the only one. some of my friends think its crazy (the ones who don't know about the fibro). i think that it is from the fibro, but im not positive.

i will be freezing one second and burning hot the next. my face will feel like it's on fire to me, like its so hot! Everyone else might be freezing and i'll be burning up, or i might be so cold that i'll be shaking. it does get really annoying, especially when everyone else thinks that it's weird, and i don't feel like explaining about the fibro and what it is (cause no one has ever heard of it)

usually i'll give up putting on and taking off my sweatshirt, and i'll just try to wait for me to get hot/ or cold again, cause it gets so annoying taking it on and off every second!!!

oh, i know that my normal temperature is usually 96 or 97. it is lower than normal, so it's weird that i'll still be burning up, when my temperature is so low.

thanks again. it's nice to know that im not alone and crazy!!
