hello everyone!

I thought I'd post and say hello- I have been MIA for quite some time- I have been very busy with work, school..the new house...and things have been going pretty well...no flares...minimal pain....well until last week..blah! you know...typical pain..yuck...so I should have been on the look out for other things..I had not had any IBS issues for SOO long...until I went out to eat with my family on my birthday last week...thank god the restaurant was only 5 min from my house....and I did not even get anything fried...the second I got in the door, I'll just say the meal went right through me. blah. and the fatigue is settling back in. blah.

other than that...things are exciting. we finaly got everything painted in the new house...and next weekend we are getting a puppy! we are rescusing a husky/lab mix from a high-kill shelter in the south ( I an in Maine) they are a lot of organizations that work with fosters in the south to transport dogs to new england where they seem to get adopted more often.

anyways..thought I'd say hi. Now i'm off to read a few posts!

Hi Kelly,

Nice to meet you. I have a home in NH very near Portland that I simply love. My soul just settles when I hit the White Mountains. I am in Florida for most of the year b/c that is where our business is.

Life sounds good for you right now and I am thrilled about your new puppy. The adoption is the best. I have a young pup but could not find a breed at the shelters that did not shed so had to buy one. My sister heads the Sun Valley SPCA and has done remarkable things. Anyway good luck with that puppy.

Let us know how it goes.

I have missed you Kelly. I'm glad things has been going well for you. I'm sure you have been working hard on the house. Congrats on getting the puppy, bet you can't wait. I think it is great how they network to transport these animals across country to loving homes. My brother has taken part in this when he traveled a lot.

 

Sorry your luck didn't hold out forever with the fibro. I don't understand the IBS either and what triggers it. I hope your just having a little flare and it won't last long.

Sounds like you have been busy. We also moved last August. Needed a smaller place. It is really such an exciting and busy time! I love our new home & I can keep up with the cleaning easier. Everything is on one floor, no stairs. I guess we were ready to downsize.

I am so glad you are adopting a dog. A Lab/Husky will make a good family pet. My mom works with animal rescues in Southern Illinois and it is really hard when I go to visit not to bring one home with me. I actually did bring one home last September right after we moved. She is a Maltese/Terrier mix, named "Brie". We got her to be a playmate for our Yorkie, "Ellie".

Sorry you had the bad flare. Sounds like otherwise you have been feeling pretty good. Hope things continue to go well for you and no more flares! Good luck with your new addition to the family!

Your puppy sounds fuzzy. Is he? I love huskeys and labs. They are both good dogs. But yours sounds like it will be a big one when it grows up.

It is good to see you back on the forum again. And I am so happy that things are going good for you. Hopefully this flare will be over soon.

Hi, Kelly!  It's good to see you again.  It does sound like your life has been quite exciting and getting a puppy is really neat.

I'd just like to say...THANK YOU all for the warm welcome back! it made my day ;)

 things are going pretty well here. having our own home is amazing...it is more work...but sooo worth the privacy!!

 I'm sure I'll have more to add and comment about later this week. I miss the forum...and how much of a stress relief it is to talk to people who know whats going on...and to help out when I can!

Patsi- its nice to meet you too! I love Maine with all of my heart. At one point, my husband and I were in the process of moving to Canada ( new brunswick) which I also love...and reminds me of maine a little bit...turns out you need a god amount of money to move to another country! but with that said...I am so glad to be living in this state!

Marlee- I missed you too!! the darned IBS...i don't get it. I could eat a pile of fried maine shrimp ( yum) and a bunch of fries...and have no problem...and the next day eat some potatoes and a bite of steak and have to dash to the bathroom...I think IBS should be called IUIBS (inconsistent unpredictable irritable bowel syndrome...)

Margie- buying our own home has been the most amazing thing. we were upgrading..from an apartment to a house...and its great. we had a little less space than we needed before..and now its just right! I am most excited for a big veggie garden this summer. I just ordered my seeds last week!

Karen- We have not met the puppy yet- but from his picture he does not look too fuzzy! def. longer hair than a lab typically would have. we have wanted a dog ever since we started dating, but vowed not to get one until we had to appropriate space.

Sherrine- its good to see you again too! its great to get back on and be greeted by familair friends! things are pretty exciting here...but I never forgot about all of the supportive people on this forum. It means a lot to me to be able to post here and get a pick me up when I am having a flare and feeling down.

I am not sure if we've ever "met" (sorry-fog as usual..) but I wanted to say I'm sorry to hear you've been flaring after a nice long reprieve. Isn't that the pits??

Also, we have a husky/lab mix, too! He's a big fur ball and quite a handful, but very sweet. Just to forewarn you-these dogs love to howl! The first time our Baer started to howl in the window in the middle of the night, it scared the crap out of me lol. They also are renowned for communicating pretty much everything (hunger, need for attention, warm welcomes when you get home) with a very high pitched whine. You probably very well already know all of this, but both things came as a surprise to me. I'm used to having dogs that just..bark. haha

Hope you get to feeling better soon!

thanks for the forwarning! I grew up with a lab, and my husband grew up with a lab husky mix. I did read about the howling thing! I have been doing tons of research on huskies, since I am lesss farmilair with them..and I actually found a forum where people were describing their lab husky mixes...which was very informative!

its possible we have "met" but man..this fog...who knows!? there are somethings I remember forever, in detail...and somethings I can't even pretend to remember...and then..maybe this happens to you...things you think you remember? but maybe that never happened?? got to love that...

it is a a pain ( literally!) to have a flare after feeling good for so long. I feel blessed that I seem to have less pain than a lot of others with Fibro...but its almost like a dirty trick...I often go months with very few symptoms..and almost forget I have fibro..and then it hits me. certain things I can deal with easier than others...I have a real hard time with the fatigue though.

Welcome back, I am not sure if we have met but if we have then forgive the "fog".  I am fairly new to the site & really love it & the people here.  I just had to tell you that gardening can be & will be very addictive.  I have had to downsize alot but I will not give it up totally.  There is just something about growing things yourself.  It is so fulfilling.  I hope you will find as much joy in it as I do.  Congrats on the new house & the new puppy, you have been buzy & sorry for the flare. I hope it is a short one.   Many hugs, Denise

jewelrylady- I have had small gardens in the past...it is like therapy for me! i am soo excited to finaly have a big one.

I just love my gardens, they are the best therapy in the world. Cooking is a passion too but I find people are always in the kitchen but in the garden I am alone and find my peace.

I plan a great garden in NH this summer. Have been planning like crazy. Maine has some of the prettiest gardens I have ever seen. I went to Camden last summer and just saw some breathtaking gardens, and galleries!!!!

Let us know about the pup. My pup, Maestro, is 18 months ans still full of himself. Best decision we made!!!

I have been drawing pictures/plans for the garden since december! Any excuse to be outside is a good thing. did you see the botanical gardens in camden? that is only about an hour away from me...but I still have not visited!! I have heard they are amazing though.

I am counting down the days until the puppy ( 4 more!) I am so excited. I always had dogs growing up, and I don't think it would be living right if I didn't get one. we have 2 cats that are going to be in for a big surprise! I'll keep you posted!

Hi Kelly,

The botanical gardens I saw were in Boothbay and they were gorgeous. No, in Camden I just saw so many lovely home gardens by the water that inspired me. I found a magnificent painting of the ocean there but could not spend it. Also found the MOST magnificent jeweler. He was right on the main way where all the shops are and custom designs some of the prettiest things I have ever seen.

I have a major drawing done of my garden and have been researching butterfly flowers and bird attracting flowers. Can you tell I just love it.

The cats are in for a real big one. Hopefully they will gently teach the new guy some lessons. What fun to watch!!! Patsie

Aww..Bering is a great name!

I do hope the new pup and the cats get along. If this little guy is anything like our lab/husky, it should be ok. Our Baer is very curious about our cat and always wants to play with her, but he's never tried to hurt her at all. She on the other hand, is NOT too fond of him! lol

Isn't this  a wonderful forum?!?!  I just love this place and all of the new supportive friends I've met!! 

Wow, moving... uggggg!!!  I don't think I EVER want to go through all of that again!!  I'm sure somewhere along the line we'll move AGAIN but I can't stand the thought of it.  All that packing and cleaning and of course feeling unsettled.  But it is so much fun to get a new place pulled together and to make it your own.

As for the puppy.. good for you!!!  I just love my two babies - Zeke, cocker span/golden ret mix, 10 years old and my little Chloe, yorkie/poo, 1 1/2 yrs old.  I can't imagine life without at least one dog.

One of our cats is scared of everything...I think its getting to the point where people who come over think we are a little crazy...and that we only have one cat...becuase no one has ever seen the little one! the big one, on the other hand, is very out going. she has swatted at my sister-in-laws dog a bunch of times..but is slowly deciding she kind of likes him. I think she will teach the puppy about what he can and can't get away with very quickly!!

I'll tell you what..moving this time was a little rough..our old land lady was a B*** you know what I mean...and tried to squeeze us for all of our deposit...even after i scrubbed the floor on my hands and knees...she found a corner..with her little flash light...that had a few specks of dust left in it...and proceeded to tell me it was flithy and disgusting. she made me cry...it was AWFUL.
buuut....it was an amazing feeling to know we would never have to move again if we didn't have to!!

I posted lots of pictures...and I listed the link for them under the "show us your mug" topic if anyone is interested.
