I Need some advice about Cymbalta

Kelly, my rheumy put me on it about 3 months ago and I feel so much better.  I don't know so much about the pain, but my problem is no energy.  It has given me much more energy and I actually think it might have some of the same ingredients as diet pills.  It has cut my appetite quiet a bit.  I have lost a few pounds in the last 3 months and I think it's due to the Cymbalta.  I do take it of the morning, because when I first got it I took it at bedtime and was awake all night.  I take Lyrica and Flexeril also and they help me sleep. 

 

I don't think everyone agrees with me about Cymbalta, but it has been idea for me.  You know how we all are different on this forum though.

Hi Kelly, I take Cymbalta, and it seems to help me, even a little bit pain wise, i dont notice any side effects like insominia or weight gain, or sleepiness, it seems to give me more energy and motivation. But thats me, we are all different , so many here have so many different exepereinces with it. you really just have to try it to find out how it works for you., good luck...

I took Cymbalta for about a yr. and a half.  I had wonderful results with it, for those 18 months.  Then a problem started, I began to fall into a depression and had to stop taking it.  Unfortunatly that can sometimes happen with anti-depressants.

Hi! I guess I fall into a different category than some of the other posters here. Cymbalta was horrible to me. I thought everything was fine, until I ran out of samples during a holiday and couldn't get a refill. I became very suicidal and had terrible detox with it. I couldn't sit still, was in an aggitated state that I couldn't explain, and became so terribly depressed that I made a huge mistake (that I dont want to ever live through again). I can only say to you to 1.)make sure you are seeing a doctor to monitor you if you do take it and 2.) never, ever try to stop it cold-turkey or run out of it (that goes for just about any drug) You will probably fall into the category of folks who have no problems with it. It can really help some. But I wanted to pop in here and let you know about the other possibility with this drug, it can be very dangerous to some of us. I take Lyrica and Remeron (for depression) now and they work so-so.

Thanks for telling me your experience with Cymbalta.  Since it is an antidepressant, I know that it would be dangerous to stop cold turkey.  I'm so sorry that you had to go through those horrible withdrawal symptoms, but that just proves what could happen to someone if he/she tries to just stop taking his/her antidepressant.  Again, thanks for the warning.  Everyone here should take note of this.

On a happier note, welcome to the boards!  This is an amazing group of people who would do anything possible for each other.  Too bad we all live so far away from each other, LOL.  Anyway, we really are a family, and personally, I always extend the invitation to email me if you just want to talk,  So, if you just need someone to talk to...
