So sad-prayers please?

Hi everyone,

Seems like so many of us are having a hard time right now, and although I don't need prayers specifically for me or my family, you guys are so so wonderful I figured I could come here for this, too. Hope that's ok!

My 6 year old son is on an indoor soccer team at our nearby YMCA and my husband is the team coach, and we just found out that one of the other boys on the team has a brain tumor. This boy is so, so sweet. He is a special needs child (severe learning disabilities) and doesn't really understand the game much, but he has so much enthusiasm and joy for life, he makes everyone smile and love him immediately. Our family just adores him, and when his mom (who is a single mother and I know how hard that is...) told us what was going on with him, we were all devastated. This boy is just so special and has touched all of us so much. We were all in tears after we found out and I have been so sad the past couple of days. The little guy is only 6 years old and so wonderful. I just do not understand why these things have to happen, you know?

We are all praying for him and his mom, of course, but could you guys pray for them, too? I would greatly appreciate it. I wish you all could get to meet this little boy and see for yourself what a special kid he is, but hopefully I've made that obvious! :-)

Danielle, all children are precious, as are the families that love them. I will keep your little friend and his mother in my prayers. I know it is devastating when anything touches a child, it brings out the protective instincts in everyone.

I also wonder why things will happen to an innocent little child. I was a teacher for yrs, the latter yrs mostly in special ed. I always loved how my children had such a zest for life. While I was teaching them lessons and such, they were sharing their joy w/ me. We each learned from the other. I guess the way it should be in a classroom and elsewhere.

Pls let us know how he and his mother are doing. You're a sweet lady.

Of course he and his mother will be in my prayers.  This is really sad news.  It sure doesnt' seem fair.

Oh ((Danielle))!!

Of course the little guy and his mom will be in my most heart felt prayers.  What's the little boy's first name so I'll know who I'm praying for? 

Its so heartbreaking to hear of a little one suffering from such a horrible situation and to top it all of his mom is a single mom.  That's so sad.  sad

I'll say a prayer for all of his family and friends, its hard for little kids to be friends with a child going through so much.

Yes, he and his mother are both in my prayers.  I work with a 5 year old autistic little boy and at first I almost quit my job this year because he had so many behavior problems.  The year is almost over and we've bonded so much and I've seen such a change in him.  I love on him all the time and even though he can't talk we communicate with each other.  He follows me every where I go.  That's why I know how special these children are.  I pray that everything goes well with your special little friend.  It is so hard to understand but I'm sure God has a reason for this.  Keep your faith and be there for them as much as you can.

Prayers going out to the little guy and his mother! 

My girlfriends daughter has a friend in high school (ninth grade) and he ended up getting a brain tumor- we all went to a benefit for him last fall-  He had lost all his hair from chemo, and every one of his friends shaved their heads to show him their support! I was truly touched to see so many bald heads running around there that day!

Thank you all so much for your replies and your prayers. I know I appreciate it greatly and I'm sure they do, too, even if they don't know you're all praying for them.

Patti-the little boy's name is Reuben. He will go into Children's Hospital in Toledo next week to start treatment, so I am going to ask his mom this Saturday what we can do to help them, be it some pre made meals or anything else they may need. My heart just goes out to them so much, I want to help in any way that I can..

I'm glad they've got him going to the Children's Hsp, Toledo. 

I've got my most postive engeries and prayers going out to little Reuben.  Bless his heart and his family and friends too. 

Is he in school yet, maybe the kids in his class can send him a get well poster or something.  If not, have your own kids make one, it can't hurt and it will help teach your kids how important support for someone very ill is.

It's so sad to hear when kids are sick! It just doesn't seem fair. I will keep them in my prayers and hope that he'll be ok.

Danielle, prayers are with this little boy and his mother. It's stories like this that make so many of our complaints seem so trivial in comparison. As my 6 healthy grandchildren are getting on my nerves this weekend I will remind myself how blessed I am.
