had my first appointment today

SO I talked saw a doctor and told her anything and everything I could think of. The day before the appointment I wrote everything down... my family health history, my health history, my symptoms, everything. I really don't think I left anything out that I really wanted her to know. I had my hubby go with me in the room so he could hear it all. I have never opened up to him and told him too much. Yeah, I told him I am in pain most days but I never gave him details like I gave the doctor. He just sat there staring at me. He didn't really know what I was going through. He feels like crap because he feels like he should be helping out more because I am going through so much pain. I am happy he was there to hear it all. The doctor was very nice and listened to everything I had to say. She seems to believe in fibro and we talked about it a little. They took blood so we can rule everything else out and figure out what is going on with me.

I'm glad you saw the doctor and wrote everything down. I think somtimes it's hard for our spouses/friends etc. to understand our kind of pain/symptoms, probably the pain changes where it is going to hit and when. I'm sure your hubby will be very helpful now that he has heard all your pain. Your doctor sounds great too. It sounds like she is going to help you. Let us know.

Hopefully you get some answers before long, I myself am only 26 and male, I know how hard it can be. Informing your husband is definitely important, don't let the pain and symptoms be a barrier between you.

Hi Sarbear, I'm glad you had your appointment & all went well.  Sounds like your Dr knows about Fibro & is heading in the right direction, checking for any other possibility.  Good idea taking your husband in to see the Doc with you.  It will help him to understand how you are feeling & what you are feeling.  He can ask the Dr is own questions too.  Well, you hang in there, this may or may not be a long road but you will eventually get to the dx.  Many hugs, Denise

Sarbear: Congrats on getting that info on a doctor's desk. I just remembered, I don't know if my referring PCP has my new and improved address and tel. #. I better see to that  My PCP is referring me to a rheumy and I want to have your experience. Someone who sees through the exterior into what lies, barely disquised, underneath. One small step for you, one hugh step for Fibromites. Again Congrats, break out the fireworks.

Good Girl Sarbear!!

I'm all for folks working on getting a dx bringing their spouses to their appts.  I think they need to know what's what.  I recommend to many people that say, "my spouse doesn't understand" to bring them with, to a dr.'s appt, so that their spouse will be more educated.  Sometimes that need to hear it from the doc. to make it real in their mind.

It sounds like you have a good and understanding doc.  Did you get any meds??

I am so glad that your appointment went well. I also think it's great that your husband went with you-hopefully he has a better of understanding of what you go through now.

She didn't give me any meds yet. We will probably talk more about that when my results for other things come back in a few days.

One thing I forgot to add. It turns out that I still haven't got my oregon medical. They gave my hubby a copy of somehting with a number highlighted so we all figured I had it and that was my number. The number would not go through. We have to go in tomorrow and get all of that figured out. Grrr... I was stressing because the normal cost there for a new patient is $200+ up front. The lady trying to get my number to go through came out and talked to us. She was so nice and understanding and she lowered the price for us to only $45! I don't think she wanted any of the other patients to hear because she was very quiet about it. I am really liking that place and they all seem so nice and helpful. We are broke, so them lowering it that much helped a lot!

Wow, Sarah!! A doctor's assistant that's both discrete and professional.  That's AWESOME!!  Sounds like a good office!!  Hope you get your OR insurance straightened out.

This is good news and you handled it perfectly.  You have a good doctor and your husband now understands a little bit better.  Hope all goes well for you.

It is nice to read good stories about doc visits. I'm glad you found such a great place it makes dealing with this DD so much easier when you know your doc believes in fibro 100%.

Wow, it's seems you had a very good doctor appointment and that they cared enough
to help you out! Sounds wonderful and I hope your insurance comes through soon...

Great doctors rock . I hope you get your insurance worked out. You may not have an answer yet but at least you have a start. I had a chiropractor in another city that took jewelery in trade for services. I wish I could find that here.
