I have struggled with fibro for a long time. I don't know if it usually gets worse with age, but I know i am feeling about the worse right now. My dr. started me on Lyrica - only 50mg. at night, as we are decreasing Cymbalta (from 120 -90mg.). The problem is that I can hardly keep my eyes open in the afternoons - I am so drowsy all I want to do is lie down. I am still very any and sore.
Has anyone else had this reaction? Does it pass?

I took lyrica for 2 months and was sleepy the whole time I justed started cymbalta today and feel very sleepy. I think it is trial and errer. good luck hope you feel better

Gosh, wish I could give you some input on Lyrica. I have a prescription for it but have not filled it yet- Someone should be along to offer their experiences with it!

Sorry to hear you are going through such a rough time- and hoping you can get this under control soon. Not sure if the winter made your fibro worse? It did mine. I hope with the milder weather that is coming it may help some too.

Hi... i took Lyrica for 4 or so months and found that it helped tremendously. I did struggle with being quite drowsy for the first month or so but it went away. Be careful with it.. I have heard that people become addicted to it and it is a HUGE pain in the patootie to stop taking.

I have been taking Lyrica for 2 months now, 50mgs at night and I wont take more cause my doctor and I dont want me gaining weight on it. The drowseiness took about a month to pass. The only problem is that I had an eye exam before I was put on Lyrica and the it seemed like my eyesight got terribly worse in the past few month, and today I had another eye exam and she said the Lyrica was more then likly to blame cause she sees it with all her patients on it. My glasses prescription had to be doubled in strength. I dont remember reading anything about eye sight getting worse on Lyrica, so I'm kinda upset about it, cause if I knew about it, I would have never started on them.

It is important to listen to your body. If it is telling you it needs to rest in the afternoons, there is no use ignoring it. Eventually its screams will be so loud you wont be able to ignore what it wants....and you will be one of those people who fall asleep behind the wheel! (Experience talking) If you cant schedule in a cat nap, at least take a "sensory break". Often times I have found that my body will shut down if my nerves are overwhelmed. Take a break from noise, lights and people may help too.

Thank you all for your support and advice. I was so exhausted that today I did have to listen to my body - I stayed home and slept nearly the whole day.I stopped the Lyrica after about 4 days - the sleepiness seemed too much to cope with. I think that this winter has been difficult - weather and other reasons. I am so looking forward to Spring and a new start.

It seems that I am a lot less achy after all this sleep. of course it isn't really practical! I like the idea of a sensory break. I will try it.
