Sorry I haven't been around for a few days. I'm just going through some..sh.....stuff. Anyway, I just wanted to tell everyone that I was approved for Pfizer's "Connection to Care" Program and I got my Lyrica in the mail yesterday. I will get my meds for at least a year-at ZERO cost to me. shocked I'm starting on 100mgs twice a day (just started last PM so obviously I don't feel any different yet). My doctor thinks that I may need to go up higher, but I'll see if this dosage works for me.

BTW-for those of you in my situation-not working, waiting on disability, being supported by someone else, or having very little income, I recommend that you try asking your doctor about this. I'm slowly learning that there are assistance programs out there. I may not qualify for all of them, but I'll take the ones I can get. I think I just assumed that I couldn't get any help because my parents are supporting me. But, I realize now that all I have to do is TRY. Yes, they may say "no," but that won't make me any worse off than I already was. yeah

Yes, there are programs out there for the under and uninsured. In addition, there are clinics that a low fee and do not cancel treatment if you cannot afford to pay your bills. A friend of mine is on the board of directors of one. the clinics will take whatever you can give if you cannot pay the low fee.

When I first divorced, I received most of my meds the way you are doing so. It was a wonderful relief. My children had insurance but I did not at the time. This got me through. I was even abel to have knee surgery and a free cpap machine with this care.

All we have to do is try.

I am happy that you received your Lyrica. It has worked for me for the past couple of years.

I'm so glad for you. Lyrica has been a lifesaver for me. I have less flares on it...and if I run out, I immediately go into a flare. However, I was started on 300mg. I am down to 100mg, and do fine on that.

Casey, (see I remember! that's right,right?) I hope the Lyrica works for you. You are lucky to get it free, it is outrageously expensive. My co-pay is $80 a month. The pharmacist told me the actual price is over $500. That's for 450 mgs. a day. I actually only take 100 mg a day now. Diane

LOL-you are the ONLY person that remembers to call me Casey on the boards, so thank you. Anyway, I will probably have to go up on my Lyrica dosage-my doctor said, "I seriously doubt that 100mg BID will work for you." I mean, I WAS taking 600mg of Neurontin 4 times a day and that wasn't helping at all. But, my doc wants to make sure that I tolerate it OK and don't have any bad side effects. Makes sense to me. yeah

I am on a special program for people who can't afford to pay. I pay the lowest possible copay of $30 a visit, but that includes me getting to see an internal medicine specialist, any lab work that I may need, and assistance with drug programs like the one Pfizer has. So, it's really cheap if you think about it. BTW-if there is a program like this in the small town that I live in, there's got to be a lot more. We just have to be proactive and look. I used to be someone who just assumed that I couldn't get any of these things because my parents support me-and they make a pretty good amount of money. I'm not assuming anymore.
