Things I have learned today!!!

First being how to make a dog vomit, you read right. After Krissy chewed the strings off of one of Ken's slippers, about 4 inches on each side. I called the vet's office and they told me to make her vomit, huh. They told me to pour a half teaspoon salt down her throat, huh. As it turned out that was pretty easy to do. Sure enough within 5minutes she wanted out and everything came up. After close examination I found she had eaten them in small pieces so that came out okay, no pun intended.

 

Second thing I have learned is getting Krissy use to the Pedi Paws nail trimmer is never going to happen. But I found if you unscrew the top off of it it works great on human toenails and it is much easier on my hands than trying to clip them. I don't even have to reach as far. Who would have ever thought???

I went online to find out about cutting my dog's nails. I did not get the Pedi-Paw because I heard it might not work real well on large dogs-even though they show it in the commercial. I saw a neat article how you get your dog use to having their nails cut and it seems to work. My dog hated having her nails done-it was a 2 person job. I started the exercise to get her use to it right after I brushed her. She loves this and seems to relax. I did keep the Gentle Leader on her when I did this. I asked for her paw for 'Shake' then I touched ONE nail with the nail clipper and then immediately gave her a treat. I did this only once at first and gradually worked up to all the nails-touching only. After she became use to the touch then a treat I started cutting ONE nail at a time. This routine does take a while but it did work with the front nails. Now I am going to try the back nails. It beats paying $20.00 at the vet. I wonder if I should get the Pedi-Paw for my toes. I have trouble doing mine too. Good to know the vomit thing too. My dog ate part of my husband's Blue Tooth. We waited for it to "reappear". Saw it the next day.

This is actually good info-thank you for sharing it! My dogs are constantly eating weird things....so now I know what to do if I need to make them yack!

As for the Pedi-paws-I really wanted to get one, but the lady at the pet store said a lot of dogs don't like the noise. Considering our pups are terrified of the air mattress pump and the vacuum, I figured they probably wouldn't like a noisy thing coming at their paws like that lol.

Hahahaha-Omg Patti. Our Husky LOVES Kleenex, too! And toilet paper...and paper towels...I am constantly finding little shreds of paper around the house. Lol
