When I was first diagnosed, flexeril cut my amount of pain in half.
I was taking it at bedtime. Within a few months it was two at bedtime because it didn't make me tired anymore. These were 10 mg. This was about six months ago.
Now, two don't make me tired, and I ended up on trazodone with the flexeril to get me to sleep. And now I am up to two trazodone with the flexeril to get me to sleep.
I tried NOT taking the flexeril, when the prescription ran out and it was Christmas Eve, but I had the same problem as songbird... within a few days I was flaring and sick. The pharmacy didnt open back up till the monday after Christmas.
It bothers me sometimes, to think about how much pain I would be in without the meds. I wonder if I would even be able to function normally without it -- my guess is no.
When I get on meds now I try to have at least one day during the week I dont take them, to keep from having meds stop working like the flexeril quit working for me. Or at least it seems like it did. If I were you, if you need the flexeril at night every night, I would mix it up with something natural like melatonin a few days a week, with no flexeril on those days, to keep it from not working anymore, because it is a really low dose and you'll quickly get a tolerance to it.
