Lyrica side effects?

OK, I have only been taking Lyrica (100mg BID) for 7 days. I have read some of the possible side effects, and while I have some of them (swelling of hands & feet), I also have some other weird stuff going on. Obviously, I'm not expecting a miracle, but I haven't noticed the meds helping me one bit. Actually, I feel worse than I usually do. I feel panicky and just in an all around funk. I am slightly nauseated, but that usually goes away fairly quickly.

Anyway, I was wondering if any of you that have been on Lyrica (or are still on it) have any weird side effects. Also, how long did you take it before you got some sort of pain relief? I was so excited when I got it free through the Pfizer company, but now I'm feeling kind of bummed. Maybe I'm even feeling depressed-I'm just not sure what to call these feelings I'm experiencing. rolleyes

I actually asked to ne taken off the Lyrica because of it not helping and the feeling worse.  I was having bad leg cramps and was so tired all the time.  I took it for about 6 months before I went off it tho.  The first month or 2 it was great then it was like it wasn't helping at all and I actually felt worse.

I am on it now. They just increased me from a very low dose to one in the afternoon and two at night. It makes me tired and dizzy but it doesn't last forever. I do know I woke up today with zero pain and stiffness. Probably the first time in years. I feel empty without my pain. Once the dizzy drowsy effect wears off I should be ok. Not every med works for each person. Fibromites tend to be sensitive to meds. If it isnt working for you talk to your doc. Side effects do wear off in time. It took a month for the drowsiness to end and now it will be another month w/ the increase. Matter of time play I guess.

I am one of the lucky people who is benefitting from Lyrica. The first week I was really drwosy but now I function pretty well on it.

A couple of weeks ago when I had a virus I accidentally decreased my Lyrica dosage and surprisingly it still helped with the pain. I have more energy at a lower dosage so I am lucky.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback. I see my doc on the 10th, and hopefully she'll have some suggestions for me. My problem isn't the sleepiness (I'm kind of always sleepy), but I feel very cranky, MORE painful than I'm used to, and my anxiety is through the roof. I don't know if I just need to wait it out or what. I'm feeling a little hopeless. sad

You need god sleep. The lyrica might be of help for that. Once you sleep well, and exercise a bit, you will have more energy.
