Good morning everyone!  I just need to whine a little bit. 

 

We just got back from a week in the Smoky Mountains and instead of rest, we stayed on the go all the time we were there.  We were in the car driving almost the entire week.  We even went over the mountain into Cherokee NC and enjoyed the day so much.

 

When I got home, I literally dropped.  I'm so tired I can't even bat my eyes. Unpacking would be such a chore that I don't know right now when it will get done. 

 

It's ashame that we can't go on a trip and enjoy it anymore.  When I was young I couldn't afford vacations and now that I can afford it I'm too old to enjoy it. 

 

I did enjoy the eating while we were there.  I pigged out as usual and now I have to start back on the old diet routine.  That's been a war all of my life.  I don't think I will ever win that war.

 

Anyway it's good to be back home again.  I have another week of spring break and I'm going to sit back and relax.  I had so many things I wanted to do while I was off.  I really need to do spring cleaning, but I don't feel like it now.

 

Marlee, I hate to hear about your snow.  We were supposed to have rain mixed with snow this morning and snow tomorrow.  It made me sick to think about it. Who wants to clean house with weather like that.

 

Thanks everyone, for listening to me whine.  I still know that I'm blessed.  Hope everyone has a pain free day.

Hi Shannon,

Isn't it awful the way things we should be enjoying (like vacations!) can end up feeling worse? To me, it's the one thing about fibro that is just so incredibly unfair! I am happy to hear you did get some enjoyment out of your trip (hmmm-food! lol) even if it did wear you out. As for the mess-please take it easy on yourself! Your unpacking will get done eventually-unfortunately it's not going anywhere..When I get back from trips, I have to give myself a couple of days to recuperate before digging in to the work at home. If I don't, I end up in a major flare. So, please take it easy and give yourself some time to rest!

Welcome back Shannon, it sounds like a fun trip. I hope it was a good trade off, it just makes me mad that the cost a vacation is not just monetary. I can't even remember when I could go on a trip & not have to weigh the cost of a flare. We are planning a trip to the Oregon coast late this summer & I am already worried I will be flaring at the time, which I know will cause a flare "Oh well!!" I am glad it was a happy time for you & the food sounds so good, doesn't matter what it was, just the idea that you didn't have to cook it all. LOL Take it easy, I don't do Spring cleaning anymore, it's usually Summer/Fall cleaning. Hugs, Denise

Welcome back home, Shannon!  I know vacations can be tiring but I'm sure you have many great memories of your Smokey Mountian trip.  As far as unpacking?  You will do it when you run out of underwear!   turn    That DOES get you motivated!  smilewinkgrin

Sherrine, you hit the nail right on the head.  That's exactly what I'm going to do.  Fortunately I packed a lot of underwear for emergencies.

Sharron, I will be heading down to the Smokeys for Easter. That is where I grew up. WE actually had season passes to Dollywood before it was dollywood It use to be called Silver Dollar city. WE also had passes to the Ogles water park. My kids have already asked if we can have a picnic at cadescove.. My mom and dad live in what is considered the foothills. I talked to Mom yesterday and they are suppose to get snow today. Would love to hear about where all you visited.

Shannon- I'm glad you went and had a good time! My youngest niece got to go to the Twins baseball spring training down in Ft. Meyers for a week with her husband and in-laws, they got back (they even flew, no driving) and they were tired! They are only 26 yrs. old! So throw a few more years in and fibro, I think you did well!

LeeAnn, I wish I had folks living in the Smokies.  Our friends that we go with has a time share condo, so that's just about as good. 

 

We always do a lot of shopping in the outlet malls, but the economy is so bad that a lot of them are closing up.  We were so dissapointed that some of our favorite outlet stores are closed or getting ready to close. 

 

We drove over the mountain into Cherokee and it had really changed since the last time I was there which has been a while.  Then we drove on to Maggie Valley.  I always thought it was such a beautiful place.  A lot of the little shops that was on the side of the road had closed.  I'm hoping it was maybe because of the time of year.  It really hasn't gotten into the major tourist season yet.

 

I also remember Silver Dollar City back when I was young, but I never went to the park.  Sad to say I haven't even been to Dollywood because I always thought it would wear me out too much.  We used to go to the shows at night, but they have gotten pretty expensive.  Jeff Stice that plays piano with the Triumph Quartet at the Miracle Theater was raised in my hometown.  Before they went on the road he would always have free tickets for us, but all good things come to an end.

 

We have been to the Dixie Stampede a few times, but didn't go this time. 

 

Most of all we ate!  I love the choice of restaurants down there.  Golden Corral at Pigeon Forge is my favorite.  I ate three rolls the night we ate there.  Ummmm!

 

We usually try to go at least once a year on spring break and again sometimes at fall break.  Last year we went for three days in November and they had just turned all the Christmas lights on and that is the first time I've got to see them.  They were breathtaking.  I had never seen anything so beautiful. 

 

I hope you have a great time at Easter down there.  Maybe the weather will be good for you.  We hit it lucky and it was warm all week.  We didn't even have to wear a jacket at night. It just started raining the day we came home.

I love to go out to eat when we are down there I dont really care for the dixie stampede I like to go to ogles in gatlinburg. i actually think it is called something else now its in the middle on the right if coming from pig forge.. My parents took the kids to acherokkee a couple years ago..
They went to the aquarium in pig forge and of course it would not be a trip to the mtns with out going to see the bear... ai actually think they have more than 1 now... My parents dont go to to many shows anymore because they have gotten so expensive . Mom has also commented on the stores that are closing But they are building new ones... So she is not sure what will be in the new places should be opened by fall..
