the left hand that hates me

My left hand likes to randomly drop things. One minute it is in my hand the next one, crash! Last night it was my yogurt container. Yup left hand said no way and bam yogurt all over my kitchen floor. The first thing that came to mind was. "you know if I had washed the floor like I planned I could salvage some of this" and second thought was "this is why I need a dog!) I mean no use crying over spilled yogurt right? This morning it was my oatmeal, dry oats at least and good thing I got the yogurt up! The coffee house I go to no longer gives me glass cups, it is to go cup only for me,lol. I don't have a single coffee cup without a crack in it. I put my gorgeous dishes in storage and have cheep wallmart ones now. Does anyone has the hand that just doesn't work? They have done nerve testing and everything on my left hand. At times I can't feel cold or hot with it at all. Oh well it must mean another flare about to hit. Time to stock up on paper goods and lots of hot patches.

Laugh away I did. It is just how I was raised. I seldom get mad at anything. My mother calls it "the oh well attitude" Something breaks, oh well its less junk.

Donna, yeah, I hear ya.. I'm very domestically challenged and I think that's I'm always doing something that requires me to have to pick up after myself.  Chlutz is my middle name.. LOL.. but it's my sister's first name!!!  (I wrote that just incase she was lurking in the background somewhere)

7 out of 8 things that I try to hold.. jump out of my hands!!  Its gotta be a brain connecter thing!!!

I always say people come to visit me not my house. I am surely "domestically challenged".

I'm having more and more problems with the brain/hand connection too. My left seems to be worse than my right for some reason, good thing I'm right handed or I would have more "I can't believe I just did that" moments. Krissy is learning how to be a little dirt devil. Brandy was very well trained and all we had to do was call her and she knew she had a mess to clean up. Can we claim these dogs as service dogs??? It's crazy cause I will reach for something and knock it over like my brain is not telling my hand exactly where to go.

What are flare ups? I have had pain somewhere in my body since the car accident. What causes a flare up?

I drop things much more than I used to. Guess I didn't realize that it's part of the whole fibro thing.

Oh wow! I thought this was just me... I am forever dropping things with my left hand it's like the hand just stops gripping for no reason and whatever is in my hand is on the floor. I nearly dropped my wedding boquet when I got married in October, but luckily my right hand was almost there and managed to keep me from fumbling it. Would have been really bad since my boquet was mostly glass!

My left hand and arm, too, have been my biggest foe in my fibro adventures. Do you think this is something the specialists that study this affliction need to look closer at? I think it's kind of weird that a lot of people indicate left hand/arm problems.
Pain and weakness in my left arm was my first flare, and I had suffered problems there over the last few years, long before my fibro diagnosis last year. I can't open most bottles and jars myself anymore, I have my family open them at home, and coworkers have to help at work. And I, too, have a history of dropping things a lot if I'm holding them in my left hand. It seems to be getting worse, too. I'll be seeing my rheumy Monday, April 20. I'm going to tell him that the pain is getting worse, happening more frequently, and now starting to affect my job. I work as a telephone customer service rep, and a huge part of my job is typing stuff. I used to be able to type 120 WPM, and now my average, error free, is about 30 WPM. It just seems like my left hand doesn't want to hit the correct keys, or if it does, it doesn't hit the keys hard enough to actually pull up the letter, so I have to backspace and correct A LOT!
Since FM seems to be progessive, does this mean I should start planning an early retirement, or another job where I don't have to type? I love my job, and most sincerely don't want to give it up. Most of my coworkers don't know I have FM, and I want to keep it that way as long as possible. I get flares all over my body, but my arms are the absolute worst. Any suggestions?
