Hello everyone,
Well, in the last couple of weeks I have learned a ton about fibromyalgia and i haven't even been diagnosed! I am a 38 yr. old mother of 2 with many various health problems. I just about fell over when I stumbled across the symptoms of fibro because it was describing me! I'm also wondering why all these neurologists I've been seeing for years have never even explored this possibility, but I that's why I'm always doing research on my own.
I have IBS, interstitial cystitis, chronic daily headaches, painful periods, chronic fatigue, anxiety, depression and aches and pains pretty much all over the doggone place but especially in my head, neck, face, shoulders and most recently, knees and legs.
I have an appt. with my regular neurologist who is also a pain specialist on 5/7 and I always go in there with a list of questions so this is something I definitely will address. Up until now, he's pretty much been treating me for the headaches and neck pain. That may also be why this diagonosis may be one he would miss - don't know if we've discussed all my other ailments that other docs are treating.
Anyway, crazy as this may sound, I would be kind of relieved to get a "real" diagnosis, does that make sense? Although I know from what I've read some don't treat this as such, I believe it to be and would love to try some of the different things I've read about that may help...even if it's just a little bit.
I think it's wonderful how supportive you all are of each other. I will keep you posted and let you know what happens at my appt. I have enjoyed reading your posts...they are inspiring!
Thanks,
Julie
