Muscle Spasms in Back

Hi.

 

I was just wondering if anyone else gets muscles spasms in their back.  I've been getting them for a while now.  They are in my lower back and shoot down into my legs, making my legs sometimes twitch if I'm laying down, but the pain is mostly right in the center of my back.  Lately, I've had them almost constantly.  I'm not sure what to do for them-- I've been trying to use heat, ice, icy hot type rubs, tramadol, and my other meds.  I've also tried massaging the areas where it bothers me.  Nothing makes a difference.  Flexeril doesn't help me either.  When I was on percocet, it helped a good bit, but I'm not on it anymore.  I was just wondering if anyone else knows what might help.

I have take Flexeril 5mg three times a day plus I take Gampentin three times a day at 500mg.

Oh gosh i get muscle spams like crazy but onnce i was on the amytriptolen (sp?) they slowly went away

Hi SaraBeth. I tried flexeril and had no results. Zanaflex made me sooooooo dizzy within a half hr and I felt that way for hours afterwards. Not good for me. My muscle spasms are usually at night so my new dr suggested taking at least 500mg of magnesium a couple hrs before bedtime. It helps me. Since you are having them throughout the day maybe you can try lower doses a couple times a day? Good luck. Lisa
