Just watched the handsome Simon Baker on the Today show (he plays TV's "The Mentalist") and he was wearing a purple ribbon on his lapel! Does anyone know if it is for fibro? I got really excited for a minute when I saw it and then wondered if it really was for fibro, and not another cause. Thoughts?

The purple ribbon IS for fibro as well as other things. I know that it is also for Lupus not sure what else.

I agree with Meg. Purple has been adopted by many groups as their ribbon color. When I had the ribbons printed for our forum I researched and there are so many causes who want ribbons that we have to share colors...but it sure COULD be fibro. Never know.

Ah, he is that cutie who plays the mentalist. I read an article about
his co star and they referred to him as cougar bait. Not quite sure what that means - older women think he is sexy? I didn't think he was young enough.

I was just wondering if someone in his life has fibro and how cool it would be to have that kind of visibility to help educate people on fibro. he is likable and has that approchable character.

I think he is adorable and I am an older gal. I watch so little t.v. but I watch him. Hope he supports fibro or other diseases.

The purple ribbon is for lupus, fibro , and MS. I think you could consider it a general medical research ribbon. I actually have one tatooed on the back of my right leg with some life altering dates inside the ribbon.
And that guy is too cute!!!! It would be wonderful to have a famous figure showing support for medical research!!!!

Is there a ribbon for fibro? I saw one with pink (woman) and red (chronic pain).

The fibro ribbon is purple. I have one, it's nice.
I think there is also a purple ribbon having to do with soldiers at war, but don't know anything else about
it.

pink is breast cancer, red is for HIV AIDS, yellow is for supporting the troops along with red white and blue ribbons. I found a site a while ago. I will see if I can find it again tomorrow and let ya all know what each ribbon means.

I just found this site that lists the main ribbons and what their colors mean:
www.mdjunction.com/awareness-ribbons
Looks like purple can mean several different things..
